The venue setup is basic but comfortable and with lovely harbour views. Service could have been a bit more personable but no complaints.”

There's also 3 public toilets and a bus stop – super convenient for getting your shopping done. Just a heads up though, the Northcote Community Centre is currently under renovation."”

    ★★★★☆ 3.8 Closed

“I decided to try The Cut and found their lunch special. The staff was very accommodating with my preferences and allergies, I'm pretty sure the chef checked on me. I told him it was nice to get a cheeseburger with crispy bacon and while the burger was messy it as very good. I also enjoyed the side salad of spinach, cabbage and cucumber that was very good and crunchy. I didn't want potatoes usually served along side and it was a good decision. I was only able to eat half my burger before I had to leave because of my allergies. I enjoyed the other half a couple hours later after it had set and wasn't so messy and the remainder of the burger for dinner. I really enjoyed this burger and can leave Auckland sastified.”

“For my husband, daughter, and myself, The Coffee Club Manukau is the perfect, easy-access date location. The playground directly in front of the cafe is a huge plus, making it super family-friendly. We always enjoy dining in because the atmosphere is incredibly relaxing and safe. The coffee is a hit with us, but as someone who loves unsweetened matcha, I found theirs a bit too sweet for my taste. However, the overall ambiance and convenience make it a wonderful place to visit.”

“Coffee club is one of the best cafe chains. The preparation is awesome. The menu consists of mixture of vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes. I particularly like the club sandwich which is a must have. The vegan ciabatta is also great. This time we tried french toast and it was good. The giant fluffy pancakes are awesome. I like the way they have planned the seating area both inside and outside. Outdoor seating offers some sunshine on a sunny day. The staff is courteous and understands your order fully. Our coffee was exactly how we wanted and at the time we wanted. There is plenty of parking available around the carpark. One of the best things is their cafe membership which offers 20% discount. It is well worth.”

The portions were generous, and everything was packaged neatly. I especially loved the egg fried rice — absolute perfection. Ordering was easy, and the staff were super polite and efficient. “The only thing I ever win playing lotto is bonus strike tickets, and on the odd occasion I go to the casino, I’m balling if I validate my parking. So imagine my shock when the lady behind the counter called my name and then said “we’re doing staff training, help yourself to one of the FREE drinks on the bench.” I picked up this fancy looking thing covered in whipped cream caramel drizzle. I still have no idea what it was but it made the latte I ordered look like a cup of instant coffee wearing a pretty dress. I haven’t been back since however as I’m nervous of disappointment. I hit the jackpot that day and it felt good to come out on top. I’d had a taste of the good life, and I don’t know if I could risk it and come out with only the coffee I paid for. But that got me thinking, Starbucks as a global company have a pretty questionable moral compass, and if they’re prepared to openly avoid paying tax in certain areas, then surely they’d have no problem with abusing their employees by firing them as soon as they’re fully trained and moving in the next lot… a barista sweatshop. 5 new part time staff to a machine, pumping out a non stop supply of free training coffees. They even use caramel drizzle to write secret messages begging for help. Unfortunately we’ve grown accustomed to the free training coffees, so we look the other way as Starbucks install anti suicide nets around the panini presses. Before you know it Starbucks is “employing” child labour and confiscating workers passports. We start to hear stories about the baristas that have completed their training being taken out the back and being recycled and turned into the self service kiosks for McDonald’s. Surely something must be done, how could we let these blatant human rights violations happen in our back yard! And then just as you’re about to speak up you realise that they’ve given you regular milk when you clearly stated that you needed almond milk. Honestly, how can you be expected to care about “alleged” misery and suffering when no one is respecting your lactose intolerance. And so you demand they make it again and pick up you’re free training coffee on your way out, pausing only briefly to scan your Starbucks loyalty card, it won’t be long now until you have enough points to go to the auctions and get your very own barista to take home…… But yeah, overall friendly staff, great service and decent coffee. Definitely worth a visit, especially if they have free training coffees.”

    Kings Garden Cafe Botany

    ★★★★☆ 3.8 Open

“This was the 1st place we had brunch after lockdown finished - was great to go out into a new place and give it a go, and we will be back to try the rest! It's definitely a step up on the old cafe - this is a Destination Cafe with a garden centre attached, rather than the traditional cheap tearooms pretending to be a cafe hidden at the back of the garden centre. Really nice layout and design - very much an "ikea Swedish" look complemented by fresh plants everywhere (as you would expect in a garden centre), with friendly service and a can-do attitude. A nice touch is that you can access directly from the road and the car park rather than having to fight your way through the retail in the garden centre. One little design issue for some customers: The flat reflective surfaces do mean a bit of noise when it's busy, so head out to the tables in the garden if you want a bit less bustle or you're hard of hearing. The Covid-19 L2 menu is a little reduced from the regular, but has all the essential brunch options, with a well crafted and fancy creamy porridge with the essential fruity and crunchy bits, terrific "big breakfast" for anyone wanting the full english, and a good Eggs Bene with the *outstanding* twist of including a zesty Spanish black bean hummus. Seriously, that black bean hummus is a star. Nice one, Kings! I hear the other stores may be updating to this style cafe soon, and look forward to it!”
