We stayed two nights, the room was very nice and came with a large bathroom, separate bedroom, full kitchen with an area to watch tv. Check in is on the 1st floor, there is no dedicated hotel area on the street so it can be a different to find. Parking is available but depends on the height of the vehicle but there is public parking just around the corner which was about $35 NZD for overnight. The hotel is walking distance to the Octagon where there are lots of choices for food. There is no laundry on site but the hotel does offer laundry service, $30 NZD for as much as you can fit in a small basket.

The man at the reception was really very, very nice, but that alone isn't the deciding factor for an overall experience at a hotel. My room, which was located right under the roof, wasnβt really spacious and didnβt have windows which allow a view of the outside, but had one roof hatch only. There was almost no air circulation. But the bathroom was large and appeared to have been renovated recently. I expected a bit more.

It was lovely to walk into our fully-equipped room after such a long day's travel. Beautifully decorated, charmingly lit, air conditioning and a wonderful rooftop view over historic buildings and the rolling hills of Otago in the background. The Chamberson is in such a convenient location - close to the Octagon, shops, restaurants, transport and attractions. We used the modern kitchen facilities regularly, the bathroom was superb and the beds very comfortable. The owner and staff were so friendly and very helpful. We had a very enjoyable stay on this our second time in Otepoti this year. It is great value. We would choose the Chamberson to stay in again.

It is hard to say where to begin. The Hotel was exceptional - it did not feel like a hotel in the first place, but like staying with really nice people. We were greeted extremely warmly, and the owner (?) always had time for a chat, when we walked by the reception. The place itself is stunning (with a litte caveat: the street noise). It is a historic building with rooms that are fantastic. We had the spacious Nest, which felt like that. One day we left our clean dishes in the kitchen to dry and the house keeping put them back into the drawers. A level of service I never experienced before. The location is great, if you want to be in the center of the city in minutes. Not really a necessity, from my point of view. Dunedin is not that big and it is quite easy to get around. The downside of the location is the noise of two busy streets. So donβt expect to sleep too long or too early - we were ok with it, but if you are sensitive to noise it might be an issue. Speaking of issues: we were literally βafraidβ of the car park, because of the reviews here. The owner showed us the location and it was perfectly fine - as you can see in the picture. A second person is helpful to guide you up and down the ramp but thatβs about it. Unfortunately, three nights were too short for this fantastic city. Definitely plan more time. Also, if you stay Mondayβs and Tuesdayβs, a lot of restaurants might be closed. Iβd you can, check out The Swan!

Stayed at the Chamberson for a long weekend and wow. What a beautiful hotel! Felt like I was staying in an upscale New York loft. The rooms were beautifully clean, quiet, cosy and warm and with all the amenities you need for your stay. The staff were wonderful and very helpful especially with information on the local area. Great location with lots to do in walking distance. Highly recommend, Iβll definitely be back.

Loved staying here! Cool and minimalist but so comfortable and has everything you need for a home away from home. We stayed for four nights. Central location, self check-in. Brilliant! Will definitely stay there again next time we go to NZ.

Great location and a stellar room - loved the styling/decor and the black out curtains. Bed was comfy and had great water pressure. It was a little weird to not have reception on site and to we were nervous about storing our luggage in the reception area instead of an secure storage on our check out day, but otherwise all was well.

Absolutely loved my stay here. I booked the 2 bedroom apartment which worked perfectly for our group. The apartment was spacious and had everything we needed. I would definitely stay here again if I ever went back to Dunedin. Top location with everything in walking distance. I was in communication with Richard who was very helpful and answered my lots of questions politely. The lady who was working over the weekend was happy to help (especially when I text on Sunday am when we couldn't get the microwave working, it wasn't switched on at the wall whoops!). The only downsides were cleaning wasn't 100%, there was dirty coffee mug stains on side table, pot lids dirty and shower cubicle in the ensuite wasn't cleaned very well. It does need a bit of maintenance to bring it back up to the luxury standard but the owners happily take on feedback which is great. The king bed was very soft. Real milk would of been a great addition also. Overall great stay, thanks for having us.

Seems to get better every time I visit. The small suites are a nice modern renovation of an old building with retained features. Well located near the Octagon and about 15 minute walk from the University. Very comfortable.
