A beautifully clean motel with lovely friendly service. The room wasn't a compact double but was still quite small. There were lots of eating and drinking opportunities near to the motel, but the centre of Dunedin was a 5-10 minute drive. The nearby Botanic Gardens can easily be walked to and are stunning.
Quiet, despite being on the main road. Enjoyed walking the owners dog. We were there to witness a court case from the public gallery. We didn't know how long we would be there. The owners were flexible about the number of nights that we needed to stay. They would have allowed us to bring our cockatiel if we hadn't find a carer for him.
This Bella Vista met the standard I’ve come to enjoy about this hotel chain. Comfy bed. Variety of pillows. An extra fluffy warm blanket available. Desk. Small kitchenette (fridge, microwave, kettle). And en-suite. Best of where it is located there are several takeaway/fast food options (McDonalds, KFC, burger fuel, Chinese, fish n chips, Thai). The hosts are lovely and have a most friendly little dog to welcome all. They also acknowledged that they are located on a main road (the main road heading south out of Dunedin)and provided ear plugs. But I found the room was sufficiently sound proof-ish for me.
My husband & I have had the privilege of staying at the Bella Vista Motel 2 times in the last month & honestly I can definitely say, it is such a lovely place! And I definitely recommend it! I am so very thankful because travelling to Dunedin with our 7 month old son, being able to stay at such a high quality, safe & beautiful motel was soo nice! Great service, lovely people (& dog) and so close to everything you need (walking distance) I have no concerns of the place other than being surprised it isn’t always fully booked because honestly, it is such a lovely place! Thank you so much for a lovely stay and for being so accommodating! Will definitely visit again, no doubt :)

Great place to stay - central Dunedin location. Loved that we could have our small dog stay with us in the room. Super clean & tidy and glad they are environment conscious (recycling etc). Our studio room was quite small but we managed.
Very clean & cosy, great with dogs, very very friendly staff & owners. Great location.
If I could give more than 5 stars I would. I couldn’t recommend this place more, rang and booked a room on my way from Oamaru. Gary was so lovely! 100% pet friendly! Room was great and warm and everything we needed for the night
