The staff at the site are lovely, kind, and welcoming. Unfortunately, that is the only advantage. The facilities are extremely outdated β chairs, tables, couches, sofas, and even the toilets feel like they have been there since the 90s. The kitchen is stuffy with very poor ventilation. Every visit is accompanied by the smell of all the guestsβ cooking, to the point that after each time we entered the kitchen, our clothes had to go straight into the laundry. The TV room is simply musty and damp. The sofas were covered in sand, so on rainy days we preferred to stay in our vehicle rather than sit in there.

We (two adults and our 14-month old son) had planned to stay four nights at Dunedin Holiday Park & Motels. However, on our arrival we were horrified to discover that at the same time several huge Rottweiler dogs were staying at the property. They were kept in cages directly next to the jumping pillow and walked on a leash around the camp site. We did not feel safe at all with these huge animals in such close proximity to our infant. We communicated this to the management. To be fair, they offered to move us to a different spot (which we declined because the dogs were anyways walked on the entire site and we did not feel confident that their 60-something owners were in total control of them) and then a full refund (which we accepted and left as soon as possible). Nevertheless, we would strongly advise all families with little infants not to stay there until they change their highly irresponsible policy of allowing such dogs and little kids on the property at the same time.

Stayed here over the weekend with our school sports team. The place was everything we could have asked for! TV rooms were great for the kids and studio/two-bed apartments were cozy and well equipped. Staff all super friendly and accomodating. Very helpful when we needed them! Right by the beach and a massive sports field, great for entertaining the kids. Also has playground and other facilities for kids to use. All around awesome experience, would recommend to anyone looking for a chill, kiwi campground holiday experience.

We had a powered site for two nights (early October 2025). The bathrooms are very clean & tidy (plenty of toilets and showers). And there's a large kitchen, with a seated dining area. The hosts are very nice. Oh, the location is just behind the beach. And the caravan park is perfectly located = short 8min drive to the city (easiest parking for motorhomes is directly across the train tracks, from the Dunedin train station). It's a quick walk up over the tracks to access the train station AND the city centre. And 30min north-east of the caravan park is the Albatross Centre (worth going to). There's a "coastal route" and a "plateau route" = both are the MOST scenic drives you shall ever do in your life.

A nice stay here, the cabins are a bit dated and only heated by a small fan heater on the wall. Good friendly service, nice secure facilities with everything you need. Access to the beach via a sports field is a 5-10 min walk. Nice feed of fish n chips from the shop behind reception.

Our first holiday park stay for our visit to New Zealand on 20 July 2023 after visiting Larnach Castle. Staff was friendly and helpful by providing us with the necessary informations about the holiday park, from laundry to communal kitchen to bathroom and etc. There is a small shop just at the entrance selling hot food and necessities. Place was clean, neat and spacious.

Take all your own kitchen utensils or hire from the camp as we could only find 1 fork and 2 knives which made for an interesting way to eat a roast! Check your cabin location as we were probably the furthest from the bathrooms as the central ones were under an upgrade. Not ideal to stay in a cabin in winter having to raise across the camp & make sure you know the bathroom code otherwise you canβt get in! No issues with wifi but limited kitchen supplies and the oven site doesnβt close so it took 2 hours to cook our roast. We happened upon a full day power outage which again wasnβt ideal. Wasnβt the best Location for us other than our visit to the castle & peninsula but it might be dependent on your plans. A summer stay wouldβve been far more enjoyable.

Review based on powered RV site. Alright location, convenient to the peninsula. Needs a refurb though. Male toilets was missing the door handle and had a plastic bag through the hole to pull open - kinda gross. Playground climber has no way up suitable for younger kids.

Wouldnβt recommend this place. Advertises as pet friendly and isnβt! Dogs are allowed leashed on the property but you can not book a cabin or unit. Guess it would be okay if you had a camper van. Unfortunately for me I had just moved to Dunedin with my dog and we ended up sleeping in the car, and I only paid to be there as it was my safest option, I paid for a powered site to charge my phone and what not, couldnβt use the power as it was only made for campers, my mistake. Was told very swiftly we canβt refund you the difference. Staff were incredibly rude and unhelpful. Wouldnβt recommend to anyone

Over rate this place, stayed for 4 nights. In TV cabinet room. Was perfect for us of what we required of a room of a kettle plus a TV. Highly recommend the toilet and showering area, so clean and tidy. Love the music in there, gives a vibe to your day. Service of reception was out standing. Arrived late, rang back to see if we had bedding. A service of thinking of their guests. Well done St Kilda Hoilday Park, we will be back.
