   Dr Pal has been our family doctor since we moved to the area over three years ago. Selwyn House is a small (family) practice but that’s what nice about it as well. It’s relatively easy to get an appointment at short notice. Dr. Pal’s service is friendly, attentive, and professional. If we need a phone consult that can also be arranged. It’s also located next door to Blood Test Lab, which means if you need to undertake any tests etc., it’s just there!

   Did not enjoy my time with this medical centre after visa stuff. Never listened always got the feeling what I was saying wasn't believed, battled bad back which has now messed up big time, when it could have been resolved. New surgery and instantly getting answers for half the price.

   Avoid this medical practice at all costs!! Unfortunately, our Father fell ill with a terminal cancer and Selwyn house abandoned him when he really needed them. They refused to help us with forms to get him a personal alarm and mobility parking permit, insisting they wouldn't take a phone consult when he was in hospital and wanted to charge $150 + consult. This meant he could not discharge home safely with necessary supports in place, which caused a huge amount of stress for us as a family. They were rude and have no compassion for their patients. The sad thing is my Dad supported Selwyn House since it's humble beginnings when it was built in Selwyn Road, Howick. We as kids all went to Selwyn house doctors growing up. We had to change GP's to get the help that he needed. Our Dad has since passed away and we won't be going near Dr Pal and the Selwyn medical practice ever again. Added: My review is exactly what I experienced. All I wanted was some help with some forms to get my Dad some support. I've never heard of a GP not offering a phone consult for someone that is unable to make it in person?? I was never given an option to stay and have an appt or discuss anything of the sort. When I asked for some compassion you wouldn't return my emails or call me back. I think you are wrong. When someone is in hospital and needs their GP's input, they need your co-operation and flexibility to access the support they need, something you completely denied us of. To be honest your entitled response is dissapointing and I stand by my review that I would never go to your practice if you paid me!!

   I did my full medical from here last month. Got the appointment for the next day through online, enough parking spaces in the vicinity, Receptionist checked me in and completed the documentations/formalities. Basic body checks were done at the Clinic, X-ray & Blood test got done in the different buildings a few steps away from the Clinic. All it took was ~20 minutes to get all tests done. I received emails after 2 to 3 days regarding successful medical submission to INZ and the full medical report. Apparently, I intended to go to a different clinic near my place (random selection from an INZ list) that had a waiting time of five days. A friend of mine recommended to go for Selwyn based in Howick. Indeed, it was a good call! Kudos to Dr. Pal and the Staff.

   The best experience in New Zealand so far! The staff is friendly , kind, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. My Medical was able to be done at the time that I needed and all auxiliaries ( x-ray and blood work ) are adjacent to the practice. This should be the only practice you consider for your immigration medical.Thank you all !

   The doc is very rude and arrogant. When my 17 years daughter booked the x ray through the phone for the purpose to extend her overseas student visa, no one gave her detailed accurate instructions. Then on last Friday afternoon she came to the center by herself with her student card. When she arrived there, she was told she could not do it because she hadn’t brought passport and her parents were not with her either. My daughter was surprised no one told her when she made the booking, but she didn’t argue and called me. I immediately drop my work and travelled one hour to the center with her passport. When I got to the center at 2:15pm , no one was in the reception and the whole center appeared to be empty and quiet. Then I ring the bell, still no one show up. Then I ring again and speak loudly “anybody there” . Then one room opened and this doc came out with a mad face. I thought he was annoyed by my ringing bell and voice. He gave a quick look at me and my daughter , said “you two , wait there” . No greetings, no smile , no “please”, very impatiently commanding. I was not happy and said “my daughter already has been waiting for one hour and we can’t keep waiting”. Then guess what did the doc say? he directly said “alright we close now, you come back on Monday”. It’s just 2:30 at that time and the medical closing time is 3:00. Of course I didn’t agree with that. I began to argue why did it close so early and my daughter waited long hours here and I traveled long distance too. This doc refused to listen to us and just said “ close now , just leave, I will be late to pick up my kids from school” . That was nasty and ridiculous. The doc thought his time is precious but others not. The doc thought he was always right but other were just trouble makers. He probably mixed up his home and this medical center. The medical center is a private owned center and he maybe the boss but it’s not his private home. A medical center has to offer proper service to public and follow the rules. He cannot just do whatever he like such as kicking out customers with random early closing just because he pickup his kids. What happened following was he was rush to close and I insisted to ask him to do his job. He even call the police to force us out. That made me feel I was a criminal. I don’t know if this is the first time for this doc but it was the first time for me to experience such an embarrassment, a medical center make customer feeling like criminal. I am very upset with this doc and this center.

   Wow!! I was amazed by the service they provided. Everyone there is so welcoming and friendly. Didn’t expect this as I was there only for my immigration medical. I have been to other place for my immigration medicals before but never got the same treatment. Thank you wonderful service. Other medical centres doing immigration medicals should learn something from this company. Highly recommended.
