   Reclaimed Teak Cross Leg dining table. Love it and stained it. We bought this great outdoor dining table in September 2025 and we love it. It was untreated and so we could choose what to stain it. This review post is to say how great the Early Settler people were, and to show the before and after stain. The staff were terrific and knew their stuff about teak and timber. They advised us to choose a stain, maturity a tint. We went to Resene and chose the outdoor oil stain ‘Driftwood.’ We’re thrilled and recommend it as it is very similar to the original teak wood colour, but just with depth and strength to it.    We received an Early Settler flyer in the mailbox and particularly liked the Eames lounge chairs. I phoned the shop in Hamilton and spoke with Emma about them, so we opted to go to the shop to make further enquires and figure out delivery options. Emma and Ruby helped us with all of that, so we paid for the chair and organised to pick it up directly from the shop. We received great friendly service in all aspects of both ordering and pick up. The staff are a pleasure to deal with. Very Helpful. We are long-time customers of Early Settler, so we have peace in mind in knowing the quality of the product and the great service

   My shower set didn't have the piece for taps to actually connect to the wall. So I've been trying for weeks to communicate with Early Settler about this, and they have now blocked my email :) I guess they can hear from the Commerce Commission instead

   SHOCKING SERVICE - VERY UNPROFESSIONAL We have bought bedroom furniture in December last year from Early Settler Hamilton store and they promised the delivery in April 2022. Due to shipping delays, they said that the delivery will be in mid July. I called in early July to re-confirm the status then they said the container has arrived and its going to take 10 days to get the furniture to Hamilton. Then they contacted with an update that its going to come in the second week of August. We understand there were shipping delays but we can’t accept this reason in our case because ES had 8 months to arrange the delivery. We have also bought furniture from Freedom, Nood and Farmers for our new home and everything was delivered as promised. Two weeks ago we heard the bed will be available after 6 weeks and were offered the floor model with $150 ES voucher (which we still haven’t received as yet) even though we know the floor models sell for at least 40-50% off retail prices, we had no choice but to accept the offer as we were sleeping on the floor from months. We were assured by the manager that the bed is in as new condition so we accepted the offer and picked it up last week. On assembling we noticed it has various marks/dents and missing supporting leg and screws. Our patience has given up now, we don’t want to keep this damaged and incomplete bed. Please contact us to arrange the pick up immediately and send us the replacement new bed ASAP.

   Avoid buying Slouch sofa! We purchased this in late 2018 spent over $4k, 3 years later the interior is deteriorting. Contacted the shop and was advised to get this repaired yourself as it is not under the waranty. Understandable it is not under waranty after 3 years or so but we are disappointed with the quality of such an expensive set of sofa.
