Authentic Korean food and flavours are presented in a contemporary style. Everything was presented perfectly, and the taste was exceptional. The service was also great, and lastly, the prices were really good for the quality of the food and service. The seaweed snack was a hit with my kids, as was the pork galbi and rice. Highly recommended to all foodies!!

A very memorable restaurant. Slightly mysterious unassuming very plain exterior but inside it's a whole different story! A lot of protocols being followed by the staff which create a special atmosphere. Food amazingly tasty. Every sauce is so tasty I was scraping my plate! The raw fish is the best I've ever tasted. The set menu is very good value and exactly what they promise - a taste adventure. Better make a reservation as they were full after we came and turned away several groups after us. I've never tasted Korean food like this or seen the rituals before. Beautiful attention to detail and highly organized preparation. An experience you'll want to repeat!

Fantastic food and service. The restaurant is often busy so book ahead if possible. We decided to just order a la carte and every single dish was delicious. Especially the stuffed chicken wing with prawn paste is ridiculously good. I could eat a dozen of them!! The ceviche was also excellent. Top notch restaurant.

My friend introduced me to this restaurant as he knows that I don’t do fine dining in NZ given I spent nearly a decade in Tokyo. That’s not to say NZ can’t do fine dining but I just couldn’t be bothered to try it here as reviews are hit and miss. In Japan you can use Tablelog and it’s pretty much on the money. Tokki however has now changed my mind on NZ fine dining. Tokki is very much like one of those restaurants in Ebisu, Hiroo or Azubu Juban: High end neighbourhoods in Tokyo with very good but discreet restaurants. We ordered the sashimi with this mustard type of paste covered with fine green onions, the deep fried egg plants, the stuffed chicken wings with prawn, the snapper bibim bap, the flat noodles (one with the gachu jang flavour and the other with mushroom and truffle oil), minced chicken on Korean pancake, roasted sweet corn with a cream puree and for dessert there melon flamed baked Alaska. The sashimi was superb - it was Nobu without the Nobu. The chef did his own dressing which was flavorful but not heavy. It was topped with fine spring onions. He tried to explain it to us the dressing but I can only describe it simply as light refreshing mustard flavour without the harshness of mustard. The egg plant was excellent, it was deep fried in a light crunchy batter with just enough sweetness. The stuffed prawn chicken wings were really good and our 6 year old ate nearly one on her own which is something as children don’t do sea food. The minced chicken on Korean pancake was excellent. The texture of the pancake was crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. The roasted sweetcorn with this cream parfait type pure was very, very good and the texture excellent. The snapper bibim bap was great especially with their own self made sesame oil. The highlight for us though is their flat noodles. It was al dente, had a slight chewiness and the thickness was just right. We ended with their (I understand) signature melon ice cream on a stick baked Alaska. It was nice to have at the end. The wine list is extensive with the high end champagnes to nice NZ chardonnays. They do the high balls and have just beers to satisfy everyone. Given this was my first fine dining experience in NZ I cannot compare it to other restaurants in terms of price but I can say this fhat for the price we paid it was deeply satisfying in terms of taste and portion size so much so that we had to go for a walk afterwards! If you go you won’t be disappointed by the food and service.

What a find in North Shore! House menu was delicious, good service and well priced. Great selection of wines. The eggplant and the noodles were stand outs, but everything was tasty and well presented. They are busy, so bookings are recommended.

Service was great ! To be honest I haven't had this much good service in Korean restaurant in auckland. However. Food wasn't that impressive. It was okay. Crispy egg plant was good but not sure if it's Korean style... also flat noodle. Not sure about it. And maybe try not to over use soy sauce for dishes. Some dishes taste pretty similar... And portion sizes.. would be better if it's little bigger. Also I think just two individual piece of bites will be better for customers then one cut in half or quarter.. By the way I can give 10 stars for melona s more ✨️ it was real good !!

After searching for restaurants and seeing such highly rated reviews, I decided to dine at Tokki. We got the house menu priced at $80pp. First of all, the ambience and service is amazing. The main waiter is very professional and attentive. No complaints there. HOWEVER, all the dishes were absolutely disappointing and I couldn’t believe this was the what we were paying $200 for (including drinks). This restaurant is definitely catered towards white folks who don’t have an idea of Korean/Korean fusion food or rich Milford residents. The ‘green salad’ in the house menu was literally 5 pieces of lettuce that wasn’t even cut up properly, drenched in sesame dressing. The ‘tokki ssam’ is just a few pieces of cold galbi meat on rice and lettuce. The ‘hwe’ was ruined from being drenched in mustard sauce. You cant even taste the freshness of the raw fish. The ‘flat noodles’ were so oily and not a good mix with the dwenjang sauce and the mince was so hard. The only thing good on the house menu was the crispy eggplant. I cant believe how expensive this place is for the quality AND tiny quantity of food. I will never return here because of how underwhelming and disappointed I was. There are way better Korean/Korean fusion restaurants in Auckland. You pay so much only to leave super hungry. Not worth at all.

Fantastic dinning experiences. We were lucky to get to sit at the bar watching the food plating. Nathan, the chef at the bar was very friendly and attentive. He patiently explained the dishes to us and answered our questions. The duty manager Masashi was awesome and super accommodating. It was hard to pick our favorite dish from their set menu. I would say the raw fish with Korean mustard, Beef tartare with potato fritter, and Baechu Bojagi (cabbage roll) are the highlight of the set menu for me. The featured dish would be their Crispy Chicken Wing, highly recommended.

Loved it! Don’t you love it when the owner isn’t only the chef cooking your food but also the one that brings it to your table and talks about it. To me, that’s what dining out is about. Jason and the team are super friendly and keep the conversation on an equal level, where you’re a guest in their house so everyone deserves the same level of respect and that’s special. Tokki is small in size but big on personality. All of the flavours are authentic but approachable. Amazing wine list, we had a bottle of really cool Japanese pet-nat and it was delish! We went for the degustation, as we don’t like to read when we go to eat. We knew that the food will be good so going for a deg is always a great choice, it makes it easier for the team and more relaxing for you. I’d love to eat here once a week, so better get rich fast.

Simple, done ridiculously well. There's nothing really negative I can say about Tokki, except for me wishing it was more of a reasonable Uber-ING distance from home so I could've explored their whisky selection. My problem, not theirs. We tried the famed Raw Fish, with the delectable mustard sauce, and it did not disappoint. The fish, snapper that day, was soft and very much a melt-in-your-mouth experience. The sauce, slightly tangy, with a slight kick that's reminiscent of wasabi/horseradish, was a perfect match, generously topped with... A green garnish. (I am terrible at recognising herbs - I think it was chives). Clean, and satisfying, but also more-ish, I could've hoovered that plate to myself. The flat noodle dish in a gochujang sauce, with toasted pork mince was the epitome of simple, done ridiculously well. There was a somethin' somethin' about it that I just know I can't recreate at home. It was a flavour bomb, despite looking so simple. Another dish I could've hoovered on my own. The fried chicken wing, Stuffed with prawn was another winner. Perfectly fried, but not greasy, that chicken was super tender and juicy. It was served with a rich mushroom gravy dipping sauce, which I didn't think would work so well as the chicken was already quite rich - but it did. Good portion to share between two. At this point we reckon we could handle one more dish and we picked the fried eggplant. No regrets there. Perfectly deep fried, without that sickly after effects a fried eggplant can sometimes result in. It was sweet, it was crunchy, it moreish. Service was on point. Our server was knowledgeable, but mostly left us to our devices. Though somehow knew the perfect time to offer another drink. The token sweet handmade chocolate treat at the end was the perfect end to our night. Solid wine selections, though I wish they had some more by the glass. All in all, an amazing experience. We will have to come back to try the Chefs Menu. And the range of whiskies, and high balls.
