Love love love the Huapai tavern! The bar staff are friendly and it feels like a home away from home, live bands on a Sunday and friendly locals make this one of the best places I have been to! Highly recommend giving the Hua a go!
Have been to Huapai Tavern many times in past mainly for lunch. Took our dog there in the outside area on a good few occasions with no problem after reading it was dog friendly on the website. Dropped in the other day and this young officious barmaid told us we weren’t allowed to bring our dog. We said that we had taken our dog to the outside area in the past and as far as we were aware it was a dog friendly pub and the young barmaid said determinedly that we were wrong and that Huapai Tavern has NEVER allowed dogs. The management need to educate huffy ignorant new staff on bar practices and policies and employ ones that are friendly towards the public they will lose customers
Great bar and white staff with outstanding meals at good prices. Small and busy with a homely feel, with locals popping in regularly.
Haven't tried the food, but in terms of vibes this might be my favourite place I've been in NZ. It's not fancy, it's just lovely. The staff are incredibly friendly, it seems to be busy whenever we go on. I love this place.
A cosy and warm tavern with a very friendly and attentive bar tender. Glen makes everyone feel welcome and happily shows interest in his patrons. Fire was roaring and the food was delish. We ordered Surf and Turf along Smoked Chicken with Bacon and Crispy Noodles. Both dishes were scrumptious. Complements to the chefs!
Food and service were on point! Stopped in a couple of times for dinner over the past couple of weeks with work mates and have left happy both times. I enjoyed the Surf & turf, while the others raved about the burgers, seafood chowder, pork belly bites etc. The fireplace was super inviting and kept the place nice and warm on the cold winter nights.
The food is awesome. There are new chefs and the pork belly bites are perhaps the best thing I've eaten at a pub in years. Great bands, great hospitality, awesome dumplings. Recommend!
My friends and I agreed to meet at this pub for a catch up on a weekday. Situated in the centre of rural township of Huapai, this old pub building has indoor - outdoor flow and a restaurant catering to a variety of dining preferences. Warm and friendly staff. Diverse clientele. A pleasant hospitality experience... Recommended!
