100 STARS IF I COULD RATE the immaculate service from the store manager LONDON. I went in store last Saturday and was approached by such a warm welcome by him and staff who suggested many shoe options regarding comfort and quality. London represents the store with so much pride, the store is always tidy and clean and the service was spot on! I walked out very impressed with some new kicks of course! Give the store manager a pay rise! ⭐️
I'd like to share the awesome customer service I received this week from one of the staff members. I think his name was London? He was quite attentive and was able to give me some suggestions on how to pair certain shoes with clothing or what occasions the shoes would be good for. I haven't experienced this type of customer service before so wanted to share this moment as it took me by surprise to see someone who is passionate about their job!! Keep it up Platypus Albany!! Someone give that guy a raise!
Went instore Sunday afternoon looking for a specific style of shoes with my daughter - asked for help finding a size from the girl behind the counter who was straight on the back foot accusing us of not knowing the difference between men and women’s sizes (like it matters). After a bit of back and forth decided on the shoes, she told us they’re poor quality and we needed to buy their protective spray to prevent the shoes getting damaged. Said no as we already have some at home then alleged it was too old (it’s not) and we needed a new one. I said we don’t. She cut me off in front of the counter to grab a bottle of the spray anyway then put it next to the shoes. Had to forcefully say we’re not buying it. She then asked for an email address to send the receipt to, I declined and asked for the physical receipt which she then declined time after time alleging we couldn’t return the shoes if necessary without an email receipt. Buying shoes shouldn’t be this hard, go elsewhere.
Extremely disappointing service. Both staff members were on their phones behind the counter and continued to use them even while I was trying to ask if they had a particular shoe size. Eventually, a young man replied, "Sorry, we don’t have that size." I then asked if he could check with the Newmarket branch for availability. His response: "Sorry, Newmarket have changed their number." He then asked his colleague who had been on her phone the entire time and she said, "I'm not sure, sorry," before returning to her phone. While still in the store, I googled the Newmarket branch number myself and found it immediately. They picked up on the first ring, which confirmed they had not changed their number. It was clear these two staff members simply couldn’t be bothered to assist a customer, despite me looking for a birthday gift for my brother. After my call, I noticed the two staff whispering and glancing in my direction, which made the experience even more uncomfortable. I really wasn’t asking for much just basic customer service, which should be a given. In this economic climate, where so many people are struggling to find employment, it’s frustrating to see such careless and unprofessional behavior. I left the store genuinely annoyed and will not be returning.
Today I went in to find some new shoes to support a recent tendon injury. When I walked in I was immediately greeted by 2 lovely girls, I wish I grabbed their names. They were both so so lovely, asking me about my day and how I was, they treated me as if i was a friend. They helped me find a new pair of shoes, even holding them for me while I checked out the other shoe stores, but I ultimately decided to come right back not only for the great sale but because their customer service was so good! (For reference none of the other shoe stores I went into at Albany even acknowledged me) I walked in not feeling the greatest but walked out feeling way better just because of how kindly I was treated. So thank you to those 2 lovely girls, you really made my shopping experience 10/10, and actually made my day a lot better. ❤️
Staff - nowhere to be seen Music - so loud couldnt communicate with my daughter about the shoes Seating to try on the shoes - almost non existent Summary - we walked out as it was all so uncomfortable. Am in no hurry to return to a Platypus store - would recommended only as a last resort after trying all other options
Ordered a Click and Collect for Albany Platypus as they had the shoes I wanted in stock, and website said they would be ready to collect within an hour. I waited till the next day as I still hadn’t heard anything, and decided to drive there to get the shoes. I was told due to choosing click and collect I would have to wait TWO DAYS for the shoes to be packed. I then said, so do you have the shoes in stock here or not? She said yes they do. I then said ok why can’t you give me the shoes now then if they are back there in stock like a regular customer? Instead of telling me to wait 2 days to come back for the shoes that they already have back there. Eventually she came out with my shoes. Staff acted like it was such a giant hassle. We also tried calling 3 times to check before we left but NO ONE ANSWERS the phone ever. Will not be going back there. I also work in customer service and I am so glad that I treat my customers better than they do. Time to get more competent staff that ACTUALLY want to help you.
Wow, my experience at Albany Platypus was just incredible, a person called Jerry i think, he was amazing. He helped me find exactly what I was looking for, while also giving me great customer service!!! Thank you Jerry.
The manager I dealt with this morning was amazing!! She was so lovely and helpful and i really appreciated her friendliness. I was super indecisive but she was so patient. Sorry I didn’t catch her name.
