   I travelled with partner, golden retriever and baby to The Longhouse for the long labour weekend, along with 14 other friends. The majority of us stayed at the Longhouse, with a few others at a nearby bach. We had an amazing time just spent sat around, eating good food and catching up - would recommend to anyone looking for a special treat weekend tucked away in coastal Otago.

   We stayed in the Longhouse in mid June 2025. Ilse went above and beyond to accommodate our family group at very short notice which we greatly appreciated. It is a fantastic and fascinating property and the bedrooms and bathrooms are beautifully clean and comfortable. The kitchen is the only thing that let it down a little...it's a neat old farmhouse style , but was a bit lacking in some basics such as good sharp knives and it would be helpful if the utensils drawers were organised so items can be found. Overall, I'd highly recommend the Longhouse and would love to visit in the summer.

   We recently got married at the Longhouse and we could not have asked for a better location. Everything was excellent, from our communications with Ilse throughout the last year, Ilse showing us around the property twice plus again when we checked in, and the flowers she put throughout for us. The venue was clean, comfortable, and well-designed. The location is truly amazing with the beautiful decor, grounds, and view. Our guests came from near and far and everyone loved the location and the quality of the venue. It helped make our photos truly amazing with the backdrop of the ocean and the beautiful grounds.    We recently had our intimate wedding at the Longhouse and could not have been happier with the space as a venue and accommodate for our family for the week. The service was impeccable, rooms were gorgeous, and the outdoor space and views could not have made for a better wedding backdrop. We feel absolutely blessed to have gotten to celebrate with our family at the Longhouse!

   What a beautiful space for a weekend escape with friends. The home and rooms were beautifully presented and I loved the original features of the kitchen. The beach and quiet corners to sit and read or chat were all perfect and just what we needed. Very well equipped for some wellness pampering with the sauna, spa and yoga props. And we loved the fire pit under the winter night sky. Hope to be back.

   An amazing location and venue for our vehicle launch! Mariebelle and Ilse were incredibly helpful both during the planning and while we were onsite, nothing was too much of a hassle. Venue itself was beautiful- tastefully furnished and a stunning setting. Would highly recommend!

   They promised the world yet their actions did not follow through - We paid thousands of dollars to The Longhouse who talked the talked but did not walk the walk THEY VERY MUCH TOOK OUR MONEY AND RAN. We have not heard from the owner since our booking - the owner was made well aware of the multiple issues that arose during our event, yet still we have not heard from them - not even an apology. They ensured us they would look after all behind the scenes which simply did not happen, family had to do so, taking them away from the celebrations. The head staff member present on the day of the event was rude and abrupt, often seen leaning on a wall or counter top head down on their phone and they wore white to my wedding - every ounce of disrespect. The heating broke so we absolutely froze. The lawns weren't mowed, as promised. We were verbally told during a visiting day prior to the event the coffee machine was available for us to use during our stay, they pointed it out in the kitchen, we saw it with our own eyes during our pre event visit, yet upon arrival of booking day it was no where to be seen (staff then informed us the owner had moved it and locked it in their office prior to our arrival). Please beware that most of the reviews you see here on google were given prior to this new management who are now operating The Longhouse. If I had my time again I would not book The Longhouse.

   AMAZING - from start to finish. 40th weekend with friends despite the rain it was so perfect to stay in and enjoy the amazing house + surrounds. Details on point and i LOVED the towels :-) Wish we could have stayed longer... but we will definitely be back Kitchen had everything for me to self cater for our group

   Not a great experience. Rooms very clean and tidy. Beds very comfortable. Bed linen is luxurious to sleep in. If you like fluffy towels I suggest you bring your own. I told my guest too. Their towels are thin eco friendly, not absorbent. Terrible to dry your hair with. Facewashers aren't great either. Be aware, no electric blankets. If heating not working rooms are freezing. No coat hangers. No where to hang your clothes. Heating is a hit and miss. If heating isn't going the home is freezing. Unfortunately we had my daughter's wedding there. One staff member let us down deeply. She was also told something different to what we had been told. We were over promised and under delivered. Unfortunately my daughter was in tears a good three days after her wedding including her wedding day. I put it down to the owners lack of communication between all the parties involved. I trusted the owner and every single world she told me. I would not recommend having a function here. I wouldn't like anyone else to have the same bad experience we had. It was worse than a scene from Faulty Towers. My daughter will never get her one and only special day back. It is a beautiful place to stay don't get me wrong. Just be aware I would think twice before spending a good amount of money having any type of function there. They need to improve their customer services. Funny thing is they owner was reported back to we haven't heard from her or received an apology. We are aware she is only holiday but still...
