Beware! We had booked 2 rooms for a weekend and had to cancel at late notice due to an elderly family member catching covid. We let the host know as soon as we found out, but she refused to refund any part of the fee. This is despite costs for meals and cleaning etc that weren't incurred (ie. she told us she hadn't yet bought the food for the meals we paid for). We know late cancellations are always difficult, and technically the host wasn't obliged to return payment, but a little bit of understanding and compassion would have been appreciated. She refused to even discuss the situation with us.
