Very beautiful beach that you can find wild seal after going through a secret backyard path, the experience is super best and amazing, I would recommend everybody to come. Free entrance.

Quite the drive to get here, but itβs absolutely stunning when you arrive. Lupinβs are found along the shore and a beautiful long stretch of sandy beach for you to explore with resident seals. Go in the morning when there is less people as there thereβs only so much parking available. Absolutely worth the trip!

Pacific ocean views, seal lions lounging, volcanic rock formations brought to you by Monarch cruises and their knowledgeable staff, especially Will.

Beautiful beach with the bonus of seeing the sea lions around. Itβs a very short walk to the beach from the parking lot. Sunset is gorgeous. Just be careful at the road to there because it narrows at places and drivers may drive carelessly.

This is a very beautiful beach. We weee here to try and see some penguins at dusk. But all we saw was sea lions which was not too bad in itself. The road here is quite small but not too much of a problem. We sat upon the rocks to the left of when you come down the parking and didnβt see any penguins. We left about 21.30 when it was getting really dark

Beautiful beach on a good day. Can be exposed if stormy. Natural wildlife scenery.

It was amazing to see five cute sea lions on a beautiful beach! Great place to visit. Be careful driving on the adjacent road, the road is a bit narrow.

30 minutes from the centre of Dunedin. Drive slow on the unsealed road. You need to climb over 2 fences (as you need to cross private property). We saw 3 sea lions when we went on a sunny day as well as two types of albatross. Yellow lupins were beautiful.

Otago is famous for the wild life. Allan's Beach is no exception. I have seen seals flee panic stricken at the first sight of a primate (human) at other beaches. Here the sea lions own the place. They don't appear bothered at all by humans. They look quite contented. Department of Conservation advised humans to stay 10 metres away, to let the sea lions have some space and peace. It was difficult when you walk on the track to the beach from the car park which is less than 5 minutes walk. The sea lion was sleeping peacefully on the track and I was half a metre from it. He went back to sleep and I silently crept around the sea lion to leave him in peace. I was more shocked and surprised by the encounter than the sea lion! The beach is spectacular and the scenery stunning! I have to give 5 stars because it doesn't get any better than this.

Nice beach crowded with wild sea lives, but make sure to prepare enough time if you intend to walk the entire beach as it turned out to be way bigger than it first appeared to us. Also be advised that the footpath at the end of the beach which looks accessible on the map actually goes through an entire farm where cattle run free.
