Napier Beach is a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the coastal scenery. The long stretch of shoreline, sound of the waves, and open views make it perfect for a peaceful walk or just sitting and taking it all in. Itβs especially lovely at sunrise and sunset, with great photo opportunities along the way. The beach is clean and well looked after, with easy access from the city and plenty of nearby cafΓ©s and facilities. Whether youβre walking, jogging, or simply enjoying the sea breeze, Napier Beach is a must-visit spot when youβre in the area.

It is a long straight beach at Napier city. The stones and sand are black colour. However the beach is not recommended for swimming due to its strong undertow, steep drop-off, unpredictable waves, and unstable stones. Interesting that the beach is black due to iron-rich black sands that originate from eroded volcanic rocks in the Taranaki region, which are carried to the coast by rivers and strong ocean currents. It is nevertheless a lovely place to walk when it is not hot. Toilets available. Cafes and restaurants available nearby. Uneven terrain, lot of walking. Wear comfy shoes, take water, wear hat, sunscreen. Free entry. Parking on main street is not always easy. Great place for photography.

Iconic beach at one of the most beautiful Art-Deco-Cities in New Zealand! Loved it! We visited in winter time and it still is a very nice place to be, all year around.

Napier Beach is without a question one of my favourite beaches in NZ. The dark grey sand/stone beach design and the fact that this place keeps getting more developed and utilised is actually great for the region. I visited recently, and had previously visited in 2016 and the changes were insane. Normally I would complain about tourism growth but I would much rather visit Napier than the Mount, as it fits my personality more. This is a beach and town that really requires a stay at a bach or hotel as there is plenty to see and explore along the coastline that I have not delved into yet.

Lovely place! Great for a walk with family and friends or for a run anytime of the day. The is a variety of choice between cafes, ice cream stands, restaurants or even the national aquarium of New Zealand located on the beachfront. The beach has a smooth pebble shoreline rather than traditional sand which makes for a one of a kind walk along the beach. Walking through the stones with the crashing waves is somewhat therapeutic while surrounded by the stunning views of the town and surrounding mountains. I highly recommend this destination for any kind of visitor.

We were not there to swim only to take a quick view and appreciate the ocean from the beach location. A good place to walks, jog and exercise.

A great place for an afternoon stroll. Use the paved paths, or walk along the gravel beach, take in the view of the bay, and some of the landmark buildings lining the waterfront. There are some interesting art installations along the way.

A sight to behold, heavy rain is due and the sea was churning hard as far as the eye could see. Majestic in its beauty. Stone, sand, pumice Beach with lots of driftwood. Clear pathways, great sitting and parking areas.
