I booked the Westshore Holiday Park to stay 2 x nights for myself, daughter, son & grandson. After spending the evening out we returned to our room at around 9:30pm. Around 10:30pm while packing away the dishes, I opened the utensil drawer and saw a cockroach. I took the drawer out and tipped the entire contents into the sink to try flush the cockroach away but it scattered before I could turn the tap on. Having a really bad fear of cockroaches, I looked to book accomodation for the same night but could not get through considering how late it was. I ended up booking a room at Motel De La Mer for the very next morning instead. We packed our entire contents up that night, stripped every single sheet of each bed to shake out (noting lots of stains on mattresses though they did have mattress protectors with a fitted sheet on each bed) and slept with the lights on to act as a deterrent cockroaches. After having little to no sleep, I visited the office at 6am, 7:30am and again before departing & dropping the room key just after 9:00am - unfortunately one was available. I had also sent an email at around 6:45am to advise we’d be checking out early due to seeing a cockroach in the kitchen drawer. Westshore Holiday Park phoned at 11:50am to apologise and advised they would refund 1 nights stay and wished we’d stayed there to discuss with them so they could make it right. I appreciated the phone call and thanked them for calling. Following day at 4:23pm I received the following sms: —> Good afternoon it's the Westshore holiday Park we had the bug people in and they bombed the room but couldn't find any cockroaches, so don't feel that this warrants a refund but as you didn't give us a chance to look at the room before leaving we will not be refunding also you booked with booking.com not us so sorry that you didn't stay. —- I had actually cancelled my booking.com Westshore booking and booked direct with Westshore Holiday Park as confirmed by a confirmation email sent from Vicki on 16-Oct with Receipt #45928. All in all I thought the staff were nice enough apart from the sms received. Rooms were tidy enough, just could use a proper deep clean and regular fumigation if cockroaches are a known pest on-site. Good location to the airport and not far from Napier town centre.
Great place to stay we had a cabin that was perfect for our trip to Wellington nice family atmosphere very quiet in evenings
Helpful, friendly, lovely Anthea in office, my fave van park up so far, immaculate kitchen/ toilets/ showers, there's a covered bbq area, very reasonable price, am so definitely going again, would've stayed another 2 nights but had a family emergency in Matamata...thank you, Anthea, see you soon!!!
Stayed in our caravan. Campground has lots of permanents but no problem . Older campground but very clean and tidy. Handy to airport and Port Shirt drive to town.
Found the place okay was in a good area of Ahuriri Napier close to the marina area where there is good restaurants.. Was a bit disappointed with the room we booked a double cabin and ended up with a bunk bed, which I ended hit my head on in the middle of the night. Making a small cabin even smaller - there was a double cabin available for those nights also. There was also no fan in the room making it stifling hot in the evenings from the sun baking it during the day. Liked the security of the bathrooms they are on keycode which makes you feel safe. Liked that was only 50 cents for four minute hot shower
One of the best camp sites we had in nz. Everything is clean and nice, free bbq, 50c hot shower, fully equipped kitchen, sets next to the site, super helpful and friendly staff!!! Wifi is quite alright. Powered site for 2 ppl is 35$. Others charge you much more for less!
We absolutely loved our tenting experience. Facilities are very clean. Not run down at all. Nice campground feel and ambience. People are friendly. If you call the office to book, you may get a shocking deal. Only negative is you can hear the traffic at night and it's near the start of a motorway. I'm a light sleeper and it didn't concern me. Would highly recommend anyone.
