The Black Dog Kitchen & Bar keeps things classic fish-and-chips and focused on flavour. A coastal backdrop rounds out the stop. Grill work shows a clean sear and rested meats. Sweets lean classic and not overly rich. Breakfast plates are tidy and satisfying.
We got takeaway, but the inside dining wasn't too busy. The food was amazing, bigger than we would have thought too! The veggie burger and the chicken filo were so good! Fresh, hot, and filling! Definitely on the expensive side for what we got but was totally worth it, they also have cakes and pastries inside! Fast and a great choice!
My new favourite place for coffee!!! incredible place, they know what they are doing. Cant recommend enough! Desserts were divine, little pricey but couldn't fault
The Black Dog impressed everyone in our party in every way possible. It was a fantastic Sunday brunch. A great layout where we had a very private space. The food was amazing at a reasonable price. The staff were so nice and our every need was catered for. The server remembered my friend who hasn't been there in a while. After a lovely time aa we departed, the chef took the time to meet us, and he was busy. Highly recommend to all.
Totally decadent Chocolate egg... thought I would have just a coffee but brought this decadence home!! $8 & delicious... choc shell, marshmallows and ganache inside... 2 dessert portions!! Won't do it again but encourage others to 'have a go' just for a oncer!!
The food was great, and the service was also nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Crumbed mushroom as starter will mouthering. Will come back next time to try other menus. Plenty of tables, there's chair, bar stool and couch.
One of the best experiences I’ve had in NZ! We last minute asked if they could host a large group of us (29 of us that night, which was a Friday) and they agreed to host us in their back space. I was beyond impressed with the service and food especially for such a ridiculous request. All of us ordered drinks with multiple appetizers and over a dozen steaks. It was all served perfectly cooked at almost the same time and was DELICIOUS! We had seafood chowder, steaks, burgers, and the filo and every one of the dishes was mouth-watering. We were all amazed and unbelievably full and happy. The waitress and manager were friendly and attentive, even with all of the requests. I cannot recommend Black Dog enough.
First try of black dog cafe, quite enjoyed the pancake stack, did have a hot chocolate it had some wicked designs.
Sounds playing in the background , awesome, waitresses wer polite, happy and fast , food , well now all I can say is 10/10 , compliments to the chef , tai beef awesome tastes , eggs Benedict, awesome so good so good
I had the pancakes with berry compote & cream (but switched the cream for yogurt & added maple syrup). I didn't initially expect much but the moment I saw it, I new it would taste great! Usually I'd get perfectly round & evening coloured pancakes which didn't amount to much taste wise but these were the complete opposite. While neither the colour nor shape was perfect, the taste was better than most pancakes I've had. My only complaint is that about 1/3 of one of them was too thick & therefore not as cooked through as I'd have liked but the rest of it made up for this. The berry compote seemed to be from out of a can which isn't ideal but also not too bad. I definitely left with a full stomach. The atmosphere was pretty chill & my only complaint for that was that multiple tables were left with dirty cups, plates & crumbs. Food was also prompt.
