At The Refinery, the menu stays classic fish-and-chips, served with an easygoing pace. Stir-fries keep good heat and snap. Tandoor notes appear clean and steady. Breakfast plates are tidy and satisfying. Plates offer plenty without tipping heavy.
Food hit amazingly, couldn’t fault, even simple eggs on toast came out hot and fast. Good vibe. Usually cafes can leave you feeling like the cost wasn’t worth the meal, but feel really contempt, happy and full from this meal. Would definitely recommend. And i think I’ll come back!
Rustic & spacious cafe/store serving delicious food. The butter seems home-made. The sourdough bread was really soft. The service was very fast.
Came here to have lunch with friends after a hike. It's quite busy and I noticed a lot of elderly people who looked like regular customers. There were plenty of tables indoor and outdoor as well. No queue. The place looked vintage with its decorations, high ceiling, and the old songs playing in the background. Not a lot of options in the menu but the food was really delicious and well presented.
The Refinery is a fantastic cafe. I ordered the beans and greens on toast, which was served quickly and tasted amazing the sourdough was particularly good. The coffee was also excellent. I was impressed by the staff's commitment to cleanliness and thoughtfulness. The overall relaxed, "come as you are" vibe. A great place to unwind."
This place was incredible! The owner was so sweet and the food was heavenly. The friend we were with told us about this place and as we kept walking, the more dingy places began to look. I started doubting that my friend knew where this place was, but lo and behold we come across the refinery. This place is tucked away from the street like its own little oasis. The staff was kind and welcoming. I wasn't looking to order a sandwich, but I'm so glad I did. I ordered a special, which I believe is a ham sandwich and it was served on milk bread. This bread was absolutely amazing. I asked the owner if she made this bread because it was so yummy. She said she got it from a bakery, which I then went to a couple days later to get a loaf myself - it was that good! Overall, cute place that is definitely worth checking out!
Enjoyed a beautiful kahawai kedgeree with cashew curry sauce, devine! Love the ambience here. My Paeroa fav!!
Enjoyed the food and friendly servers. Haven't tried this fish rice dish before.
Lovely, sophisticated space that is a must-visit if staying or passing by Paeroa. We had breakfast in the garden and the overall vibe was great with birds, flowers and other guests deeply enjoying the space. Food was great as well (would recommend the veg frittata).
Food was really well presented, generously portioned and tastes fantastic. Staff are very friendly too, and the place has an interesting history. Oh - and dog friendly too!
