Delicious, tasty, fragrant food. I had the bun cha and my friend had the beef pho. It all tasted homemade, deep flavours. Homemade chillis on the table, generous portions and great prices. The waiter was so friendly. Coming back again next time we're in chch! Thank you!

Both food and service were truly excellent. Loved their hot stone bowl and lemongrass chicken with vermicelli noodles. They adjusted the amount of condensed milk in iced Vietnamese coffee to match my preference and it came out absolutely perfect - took me straight back to Hanoi!

Saigon Star is definitely one of the places that you can get pho at its best in Christchurch, a delicious broth that is packed with flavor, fresh herbs, and noodles that are just right. The beef on the hot stone plate was probably the best thing there, very tender, packed with flavor, and it was even more flavorful because it was still smoking, and hence very hot, freshly served right at the table. Nice service, beautiful presentation, and inviting atmosphere. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for authentic Vietnamese flavors!

Great discovery in the Windmill Centre. Lovely friendly staff and fast tasty food. $19 for substantial noodle bowl with fresh herbs, spring rolls, pork and delicious touches. Ordered the Vietnamese Lemon Squeeze which was on point. Can't wait to return. Was so yummy and filling but light.

Pho serve usually in a super hot heated bowl. Doesn’t really make the dish any better. The pho broth was ok. The super hot bowl actually made it too hot. Waited and waited for it to cool down to slurp the broth but it was still too hot. Overall had good pho spice aroma and flavour.

Fried rice was good overall, although the description said crispy (some Vietnamese speciality) which it didn't feel like - not sure if I misunderstood what it meant :). The chilli dip on the side was heavenly... Totally amped up the taste of the fried rice. Service was quick and staff was super friendly.

Deeply upset and incredibly angry, I was told the food was gluten free after I said multiple times I was coeliac and to let the chef know. One of the dishes came with a sauce that was not gluten free. It was too late after I started eating it when the waiter noticed and bought out a different sauce. I complained I was having a reaction from gluten poisoning and he he said was sorry. Didn’t even refund the dish or comp the bill. Not good enough, coeliac is a very serious disease and I was told the food was gluten free and safe. I do not recommend this restaurant what so ever and will be filing a complaint.

The taste is not perfect but it’s ok. Normally when you order Vietnamese iced coffee in North America, it comes with a Stainless Steel Vietnamese Coffee Drip Pot With a Coffee Filter Infuser which passes hot water through the grounds coffee into a cup that already contains condensed milk and ice. Here, the iced coffee just like a regular coffee with ice and condensed milk.

Came here last night with my brother and dad after a long day at the hospital with my mom. There were only two other couples there and we sat down and got our menus. Food came out very quickly which sometimes can be abit worrying. However the food was really fresh and hot and tasty. I did have to ask for rice though as that doesn’t seem to be included at any stage of the menu. I had 5 spiced pork. Dad had fried noodles with pork and my brother had chicken, veges and cashews (which he said there were hardly any in there). My meal was ok. The only thing I would ask is that the carrots be cut smaller. They kind of overtook the whole meal but apart from that I will go back again to try some entrees and other bits and pieces. Thanks Saigon Star.
