Christchurch Gondola is an amazing experience and a must-do when visiting the city. The ride up is smooth and scenic, offering stunning panoramic views of Christchurch, the Canterbury Plains, Lyttelton Harbour, and the surrounding hills. At the top, the views are absolutely breathtaking, perfect for photos and just soaking in the beauty of the landscape. There are plenty of viewing spots, and the area is well maintained and easy to explore. Itβs suitable for all ages and a great activity whether youβre visiting with family, friends, or as a couple. Well worth the time and highly recommended for anyone wanting a memorable Christchurch experience.

Amazing experience, a must do!! The views of Christchurch & Lyttelton are breathtaking!!! Just do it! You can walk around the viewing platform & out to the edge of the hill (with the sheep) see the paragliders take off & soar the skies. Have a coffee beer or bite to eat at the cafe . The Gondola staff are great & itβs a fun experience. Catch the #8 bus for $4 from Christchurch or uber is approximately $24

Nice place to see the views over the city. Poorly marked trails if you want to hike around at the top. Food was available at the cafΓ© on top to grab a snack. Pleasant staff. It was interesting to see where the sheep were hanging out in the rocks in the shade.

A short Gondola ride up to the top of Mnt Cavendish, a great outlook over the city and a view of some sheep in the paddocks below, but it was the view at the top that looks towards Lyttleton Harbour and the city is spectacular! Very smooth ride and not really that high off ground,(I still wouldn't want to fall out, though), but within reach of some with height fears.

It is a popular tourist attraction in Christchurch. It's 1,000 metres (1,100 yd) in length, and from the summit it is possible to see across the city of Christchurch and the Canterbury Plains to the Southern Alps in the north and west, and down into Lyttelton Harbour and Banks Peninsula in the south and east. You can get here by car (about 20 mins drive) and park free at the base station. You can also use public transport to get here. It takes about 20 minutes to get up to the top station. There you will find a restaurant, walking tracks, views of the city, toilets. Very popular place, lots of tourists and locals. Level terrain around the stations though there are stairs at places. Wear comfy shoes, take water, wear hat, sunscreen. Great place for photography.

Top tourist attraction. Easy to use. We went on a Thursday 3rd week in August. It was quiet, with easy parking, no queues, few people. Would imagine there would be a wait when there are tourist buses and during school holidays etc; Stunning views. Loved the sheep grazing on the steep hillside below the gondola. Gondola was clean and tidy. Cafe was clean and spacious with views all around. Coffee long black and a latte were good. Huge gift shop with something for everyone. Didn't do the video, which was available.

Amazing experience. Not for people who are scared of heights. Day wasn't perfect for me because of rain. Didn't capture the view. Good cafe at the summit. A souvenir shop as well.

Visited the gondola on a recent trip to Christchurch and was very pleasantly surprised! The views going up were epic. It wasn't too crowded the day we were there, so no long wait times. We also went on the Discovery Ride, which was interesting. If there is one negative, then to me, it would be the discovery ride. I think it needs a bit of an update. The views from the viewing platform were epic as we were there on a super clear day. Great Cafe at the top and a little gift / souvenir shop.

The ride up the hill with the gondola was really fun. Views are spectacular. Choosing a day with clear skies is important, even with a little cloud cover there is a chance of poor visibility. Cafe at the top has decent food, a bit pricey and not a lot of options, but good for lunch. My only critique is the smell in the gift shop, don't know if it was just the day we went there, but it smelt like urine.
