Came to Putaruru to visit my parents grave and this was the only cafe open in the Christmas break. We all had a very good breakfast and the coffee was very good as well. Cost is moderate $$ clean and pleasant staff.

Great food and awesome staff who have a good knowledge of the menu.. Blackboard menu behind the counter is a little difficult to read. There's a heck of a lot information on it , and the neat writing is a bit small for older eyes. Whole place is neat and clean and worth a visit.

Excellent vegan burger (with pineapple!) and fries with an Earl Grey tea. Very helpful when I had to change my order to takeaway for an appointment. Really nice owners and staff.

This is a low key and unassuming place but awesome food and service. Highly recommend! Stop at The Cow Cafe!

We had lunch at the Cow cafe today with my 92y old mother. She asked especially for crispy bacon and toast. She was sooooo pleased with her crunchy bacon which was cooked to perfection. My lunch was also very nice. Thanks very much. I enjoyed it heaps. Cheers, Pat Garrett

We stopped here on our way through for a quick coffee and morning tea. The two coffee were good and strong. Plus they do a large which I appreciate. The food we had was nice. My breakfast muffin could have been heated a bit more. The cheese scone was one of the best that my hubby has had.

Beware, before you ask for something extra. As per Amanda Stewart says in her review below, their prices are okay until you ask for an add on, a real rip off, $2.50 extra, if you want a little more ham. Compare the toasted sandwich photo in my review of Crystal Bay Bakery in Taihape, for a little extra ham at a cost of $1.00. Or am I being a bit picky? I have been here before, and the service and food was far better then than it is now. My croissant was tough to cut through, and the extra ham was pretty small for the extra $2.50 cost. My wfe had a date scone which was great as was the coffee.
