We are regular customers. The new restaurant in church corner is much bigger and better. Food is excellent, service good. Lunchtime reservation is recommended.

About Us
The kitchen at Shanghai Restaurant takes a burger‑led path and lets the food speak. A sensible spend for the spread. Portions are generous yet well judged. Breakfast plates are tidy and satisfying. Combinations read bold but stay balanced.

The Dumpling Soup and Xiaolongbao I had were good but the takeaway Chicken Casserole was a really small portion full of boney chicken bits - update - the chicken bits are 50% bone, 30% skin/gristle and 20% meat, for $25!

My friend from work recommended this to me. She's from Shanghai and it didn't disappoint. We had the xiaolongbao, beef braised noodle and beef wonton soup.

#NZ 04 2024 FamilyTrip# A small restaurant with Shanghai taste food. The original taste, which u can have a try, especially savory tofu! It is my first try too! But, i cant finish it Avoid order too much of food, if you are small eater, as the portion quite big.

Bad service poor experience. The woman in glasses was very rude. Xiao Long Bao is no longer hot when it's brought to the table. Fortunately, the mini wontons don't carry the pungent smell of pork. The space inside the shop is quite small. The sweet soy milk tastes bland and diluted, like it's been watered down. Strongly not recommend.

Authentic and lovely family style Shanghainese restaurant. Everything is spot on. Getting a table can be difficult sometimes since the shop has maybe less than 10 of them and usually only 1, or 2 waiting staff are responsible for everyone, so service can be slow when it’s busy too, but nothing too bad, and it actually makes the whole experience closer to what you would get in China.

Perfect option for an Authentic Asian breakfast in Christchurch. The staff was very polite and friendly. The restaurant was clean and bright. And of course, the food was awesome. Nice portion, tasty and good price. Unfortunately didn't have more time in Christchurch, otherwise would definitely try other dishes in dinner time.

Very very delicious Chinese restaurant serving the classics. We got very excited about the xiao long bao but they were sold out so we will have to come back another time to try them. We had the spicy pork noodles, pork and cabbage dumplings and cucumber salad. Everything was really well seasoned and generous. The fried buns looked amazing, will also be ordering them next time!
