"Consistently great food and service" Another fantastic visit! We were made to feel welcome immediately. The service was top-notch—the team catered to everything we needed and did a great job explaining the specials. Our meals were hot and delicious, just like every other time we’ve been here. Lone Star Manchester Street is a great spot for a night out with exceptional staff and food. Highly recommended!

Originally from Auckland, my partner and I have loved Lonestar and since we moved to Chch we wanted to try out our favorite food here as well. As my post birthday celebration we visited the outlet at Manchester st. Although it was not very busy, the staff were lost, unorganised and were not even paying attention to the customers. We walked up to the bar to speak to a staff to enquire about a Margarita jug and the staff at the bar (Mackenzie) didn’t smile, didn’t greet us, she was so disinterested in helping us out with any information. Her attitude was to the roof. She was not nice at all. Honestly we think she was being racist and we instantly felt that we were not welcomed there. We placed our order with another staff and while paying for our meals we wanted to redeem the vouchers on the app. Mackenzie again, was so disinterested she rolled her eyes and even lost her patience, sighing and not answering us when all we wanted to know is how the split payment works based on vouchers as we were doing that for the first time. When we insisted 2-3 times she very impatiently mentioned what items were charged on each bill which she should have clarified upfront. We learnt that she is a manager at that outlet so we decided to speak to someone higher up. Karen (the main manager) was quite nice to us and she apologized to us for her staff’s behaviour. She did make us feel appreciated. However, this is the first and last time we would be visiting this outlet. Also, the quantity and quality of the food is not the same as other lonestars’. The portion for the fish and chips was shockingly quite small, ribs were not as per lonestar standards and the nachos barely had any meat, the nachos were to be redeemed on a voucher so I am not sure if that’s the reason why they gave us a less portion. I am quite surprised to see the negative reviews of this place about the service and no change, we have been to other Lonestars’ many times, but this was by far our worst dining experience anywhere in NZ. It’s a shame that a manager is so rude, racist and unprofessional. If she believes she is above others, she should consider a profession more suited to her attitude. This role requires humility and professionalism while representing the brand.

We usually go to the Riccarton Lone Star but decided to try this one on Manchester Street for lunch. My wife had her usual; Prawn Star which was as good as the one on Riccarton Road if is not better. I had the Sirloin steak with mushroom sauce and it was cooked the way I was asked medium rare. I said complement to the chef when he came to the bar. Quality and quantity of both meals were value for money. We were really happy about our decision to came all the way from Riccarton to gave this Lone Star a try. By the way both female staff Makenzie and Meagan were great too. All and all very satisfied and highly recommend.

I visited Lone Star on Manchester Street for lunch and had a really enjoyable experience. The food was served hot and full of flavor, with generous portions that felt truly satisfying. The ribs were especially tender and delicious. The service was friendly and attentive, and the staff made sure everything was comfortable for us throughout the meal. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming — a great spot for a casual lunch break.

Having dined (May) at the Manchester St Long Star for our 14th Wedding Anniversary, we wanted to let the team know that we appreciated the kind gesture at the end of our meals. Thank you. The food was enjoyable although there were some aspects of our evening that left us feeling quite overwhelmed. With around 6 different staff members tending to us throughout the evening, we felt it quite overwhelming with all the interruptions and having to repeat ourselves each time. With a Wedding Anniversary, this many interruptions felt excessive as we couldn't spend time enjoying the occasion. Prior to serving our mains, no one checked to see if we had finished our entrees or cleared the table ready for mains so when they came out we had to hold up the dirty dishes in order for the server to put down the main plates instead. While the table we were seated at was nice, it was not conducive to a Romantic dinner for two as it was set for us to be seated across from one another. In hindsight I should have reset the table so we could be seated together. When choosing our orders from the extensive menu, no specials or varieties of the day were mentioned which meant we had to ask what each one was. With so much information, I ended up choosing the wrong meal. With the staff not wearing the same uniform it was hard to tell who the diners were and who the servers were. Being the flagship store, it was surprising to see that the standards for customer service were not set higher than experienced. I would love to see this location as being the one who defines the level of expectations when it comes to customer service and would be more than happy to share my expertise on the matter. Thank you again and hopefully this feedback has been beneficial to ensure repeat diners, time and again. Natasha and Russell - Romantic Gestures NZ

Returned to Lone Star for the first time in many years for a weekday lunch. I had the redneck ribs, served as six ribs with coleslaw and buffalo potatoes. The coleslaw and potatoes were excellent, ribs were decent but a bit dry/overcooked. To drink I had an L&P and a super-cold Steinlager. Couldn't say no to some complimentary jellybeans after the meal!

I was recently having dinner out with my wife and kids to celebrate a birthday. Our server was incredibly, really nice and amazing service. Although I could tell it was really busy, she was doing her best. She had heaps of tables but was still managing to get around, her name was Georgia I think. Whilst she was on her break I could hear her manager yelling at her and so could my kids. The kids heard this and felt incredibly bad for the server. In my opinion the restraint should find a new manager because I have got to say that it ruined a lot of the experience and atmosphere hearing that whilst trying to enjoy a meal.

Usually go for dinner but went for lunch for the first time. Food there has always been fantastic, no complaints. Couldn't speak more highly of how quickly our orders appeared either. Very obvious they're understaffed for a Sunday lunch unless they typically expect less diners, as there seemed to only be one person floating between the main restaurant and the dining space where we were, making it difficult to receive efficient service. The gentleman that served us should be in five star hospitality, he's well presented, clearly spoken and very professional. No discredit to The Lone Star, it's more of a four star family restaurant and always has been.

Always a great meal to be had here. The mains are classics. We had the ribs and lasso of hog. Generous portions, as you expect. For dessert a berry chocolate cheesecake and creme brulee nicely finished off the evening. Service was attentive and the restaurant mostly full. Bookings recommended.

This place never disappoints me. They serve a great selection of your favourite drops. Food quality and portion size are more than just the average pub-style food. Ribs were delicious but meat could he a bit more tender this time. Burrito tasted fantastic. Crunchy wedges with well dressed coleslaw. Wait staff were friendly and attentive.
