Ate here for my birthday and the Lamb Dhansack, Chicken Sagwala and Keema nans were outstanding. Some of the best Curry I have eaten and I have had curries in many countries. Great service too, keep up the good work

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Authentic Flavours & Excellent Service! I was in Christchurch for a work meeting from Auckland, and by the third day, I was really craving some good Indian food β€” and Himalayan Restaurant absolutely delivered! The food was amazing, full of authentic flavour, and I honestly can’t fault a thing. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Definitely coming back next time I’m in town!

We had dinner at Himalayas. We ordered all the recommended options which were unique and chef special, we were not disappointed. It was amazing. The taste was so so unique. We ordered Himalaya chef special cheese chicken tikka , himalaya special prawn curry( comes with rice),peshwari naan(comes with 4 pieces). Everything was so tasty. The ambience was average, like any other restaurant. The person who waited our table was so friendly and took great care of us. Best thing about the restaurant is the variety and unique food options it offers.

I definitely got food poisoning from the takeaway butter chicken (despite the owners reply below) I bought on the weekend. I had only eaten a plain breakfast, so unfortunately everything adds up to it being this meal that made me sick. The order was for 2 takeaway butter chicken meals, the sauce of one was a lot thicker than the other and there was a taste difference between the two, which we felt odd at the time, but not an off-putting taste. I believe that I potentially got last of the left overs from the day before as our meals were ordered when they opened. As I was only visiting Christchurch and had to leave to come back home the following day I couldn't do a review until later. Service was alright. Lovely looking restaurant.

Was there with my two young ones and they really loved the new taste of the Butter Chicken (mild-medium) here - usually we’re the Little India crew. Service was great - serving size for the main was normal, although the Paneer Pakoras were twice the size we are used to - which is good because they were twice the price as well. Actually, I assume most of the starters are quite large (glancing through reviews this seems to be the case) because they were all quite similarly priced to the main meals. T’was all deliciously yummy.

Went here hoping to meet my 2 friends, who had arrived earlier (and had finished eating), to join them for dinner, but was faced with abysmal service from the store manager. The restaurant was close to empty, yet, me and 2 other friends who I was with were not allowed to sit adjacent to the one where my friends were seated -- the adjacent table was for 6, so my guess is that they didn't want 3 people sitting at a table for 6. I suppose that makes sense but bear in mind the restaurant was close to empty with ample seating. So then we asked if all 5 of us could move to the big table, but we were outright refused. All this while, the manager was also talking to us in a condescending and rude tone. Eventually, he even said that he is refusing to sell to us. I don't believe our request was even close to being out of line. Apparently the 2 friends who arrived first said that the food was good, so it's a real shame that the service and experience I had was the complete opposite. Edit to address the owner's response: Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, there are falsehoods in it, and I address them here: 1. First, my 2 friends did not only have a starter. They ordered a full meal β€” a sharing platter, the naan and a salad. The final bill was NZD 72.10: consisting approx NZD 20 of takeaways, approx NZD 50 which was consumed in the restaurant. I attach the photo of this particular meal. 2. Second, there was no redo/replate of the food to be done: my friend had just asked for the food to be served instead on a plate β€” simply for the food to be emptied from the takeaway container onto a plate. Perhaps there was some miscommunication here, but there was absolutely no need to replate the meal as if it had been ordered for a dine-in, which we communicated by saying that we just wanted to eat together in the restaurant. 3. Third, there was no offer to put an extra chair next to our 4-person table. I’m not sure how this retelling of the events came to be. When we showed up, we simply asked if it was possible to move to the big table with 6 seats, seeing as the restaurant was near-empty. Your account of being β€œnearly full”: 2 other tables taken by patrons. I’m finding it hard to understand how seating 5 people on a table for 6 is an outrageous request. It is sad that when provided an opportunity to improve the service, this restaurent chose to respond with falsehood. I will leave it to other discerning paying customers of this restaurent to make their own judgement.

Been here today, my friend is Indian and recommended this place a while ago and finally got here today. Small restaurant, nice decor and good food. Had butter chicken (med/hot) with naan n rice combo for $16.50. Pretty decent portions for the price. Can tell its closer to authentic Indian than most restaurants would do as it wasn't as sweet as butter chicken from other restaurants could get (better keep it that way) but could do with slightly more of the spices used. Seriously guys keep up the good work!
