Brought 2x new childβs Giant bikes for my grandchildren. Bikes werenβt fit for riding with back brakes jamming and loose handlebar and stem bolts/ nuts. Had to return several times for brake issue. Guy behind counter insisted this was how the brakes work. Finally the mechanic sorted it for us. I wonβt be going back when itβs time to upgrade the bikes. Worst service and lack of knowledge Iβve ever had from a cycle shop. Tell a mateβ¦β¦β¦β¦ Avoid and save the frustration

Absolutely Outstanding Service β Highly Recommend! I had such a fantastic experience at Evo Cycles Hornby! From the moment I walked in, the team was friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about bikes. I brought in my bike for repair, and not only did they diagnose the issue quickly, but they also explained everything in a clear and honest way β no jargon, no upselling, just solid advice. The repair was completed ahead of schedule and my bike now rides smoother than it ever has before, it genuinely feels like new. They even gave it a quick clean and tune-up as a courtesy, which was such a nice touch. Itβs rare these days to find service this good. The staff clearly care about what they do, and it shows in both the quality of their work and the way they treat their customers. I wouldnβt take my bike anywhere else now. Whether youβre a casual rider or a serious cyclist, I wholeheartedly recommend Evo Cycles Hornby β theyβve earned a loyal customer for life!

Gotta give a massive shoutout to the lads @ Hornby and especially the English manager Joe!!! I bought my first full sus a good while back from EVO and it served me amazingly across my travels on both the north & South Island! I'm now hooked! While based in Christchurch I used Horby as my go to shop cause without fail everytime I dropped in the team were great! Helping me fine tune my bike to the riding I was doing and giving some real solid advice, it was clear to me that Joe has a passion for riding himself! I'd highly recommend you give em a shot!

Having a local bike shop this good such a blessing. The staff are amazing and will help you with anything no matter how big or small, always stocked up with the best parts and a huge selection of bikes. If youβre in the area definitely go check them out.

A word of warning - get a quote from these guys in advance of any work, or they'll scalp you. Went in to have a single spoke replaced a couple of months ago. As the nipple was still hanging out, I said I'd like them to attempt to fit the spoke and retrue if necessary. I also said if possible leave the rim tape on, and if not then I'd retape myself. Price of a spoke? Around $2.50, plus maybe an hour's labour to fit it, on a bad day. I was very clear that I did not want any extras tacked on, for the simple reason I have good quality DT Swiss rim tape and sealant at home, and I don't need to pay someone to fit it. Most bike jobs I can do myself and MTB is expensive enough already. Came to pick up the wheel, and the bill is $75 to fit a $2.50 spoke. I queried it, and was told they'd topped up my sealant (which I specifically asked them not to do). Fine, I thought. I paid up and resolved never to go back. A couple of months later, I go to change my tyres and find Stan's rim tape. Not only that, it's the wrong width and doesn't cover the rim bed. And of course, because it's such poor quality, it came off with the tyre, like it always does, which is why I don't use it. So to recap, to fit a $2.50 spoke, they charged me for rim tape I specifically didn't want, sealand I didn't need, and now I have to retape the rim at my own financial and time expense. Not blaming the mechanic here - by the side-eye he was giving his boss as he broke down the charges, the decision came from the top. If you want to risk using these frauds, make sure they agree a price in advance and hold them to it. If they want to tack on extras, the very least they can do is call you first.

We have been looking to buy a couple of ebikes. I researched and got some advice from people in the know and settled on some Trek Powerfly 4's. Evo Hornby is our nearest Trek dealer, so we went in to check them out. The service and help we received was first class. We were served by a knowledgeable, no pressure, helpful salesperson. Despite a fire sale offer ending yesterday - they offered us the bikes at the sale price. Great service, no pressure and helpful. I highly recommend them and would buy there again.

Purchased a full suspension mountain bike for my son and the staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. Sold us a bike that meets his riding ability without going overboard. Very pleased with their service.

Visited the Hornby store two weeks in a row for my daughter to test bikes before deciding on one to buy. Staff were extremely helpful on both visits, never pushing for a sale etc. On both visits I explained that my daughter is autistic and would need time to decide. Both sales staff were extremely respectful, never speaking down to her or even directing questions to me rather than her. We really appreciate all the help and advice we were given on both visits. Well done Evo Hornby! Ka pai tΕ mahi
