   What a great experience. We ordered a range of dishes like pizza, burritos and quesadillas. It was all pretty nice but the wet burrito were by far the best. It was a super busy night and our food came fast. Small hiccup in the order and the staff went all out to fix things up. The kids loved the scavenger hunt too. Excellent spot for a delicious meal. We felt like we were abroad!

   great food outstanding atmosphere with amazing service. staff are well presented and friendly. chefs are visible and converse with customers to embrace feedback. different chef on pizza and street food. my daughter and dog were welcomed and felt at home with patrons being at ease in the vibe of being lost in what is truly a secret garden. special thanks to chef andreas and bar staff who wore the most embracing attitude to highlight your dinning experience.

   It's definitely worth checking out. The food was good (however, I think a lot is pre prepared and quickly heated up as it came super duper quickly, and the toppings on nachos were not hot). The vibe was great. Loved the decor and music. The service was nice as well.

Every bite was full of flavor and heart, and honestly, it gave some of my favorite Cali spots a run for their money! But it’s not just about the food. The whole vibe of this place is something special. The ambiance is laid-back, lush, and totally unique—within minutes I felt relaxed and right at home. There are so many cozy corners, artistic details, and little nooks in the garden to explore. It’s like stepping into a hidden world. The design and energy reminded me so much of my travels in Bali—the same warm, creative, soulful feel that makes you want to stay for hours. Every time I’ve been, there’s been something cool happening—whether it’s live music or some kind of event, there’s always a great community vibe. And let’s talk about the owners and staff: absolute gems. So welcoming, kind, and clearly passionate about creating a space that feels good to be in. If you’re in Waihi Beach and you don’t go to The Secret Garden… you’re seriously missing out. The first time you walk in, prepare to be surprised—in the best way.

   I must say, as a native Southern Californian, seeing Mexican food served at a Buddha themed tiki bar in New Zealand had me suspicious for the quality of the Mexican food. I spoke with the owners however and found out that they too were from Socal and started this business due to the lack of good Mexican food in New Zealand. I must say the food did not disappoint. Not only that the vegan options were plentiful, and quite good. I was very pleasantly surprised and happy to enjoy the fare. Food took a while because it was so busy (live music brought a lot of people) but other than that everything was on point. We even got a visit by the friendly cat named Rainbow who decided to take a nap under our table.
