We were so lucky to pick this gem while visiting Waihi. It is something from the past life. The veranda windows in this place made the hot and sunny day really easy to be inside. There was enough fresh air with no AC. Imagine the restaurant where you are waited by the adult man, who cares to talk to you for a minute, explain the meal of the day, answer all your questions. And then double checking what he thought was not available to get it for you in the end. Thanks Martin. And the food. Remembering it makes me hungry. Beautifully cooked fish fillet with hot chips and beef skewer with pilaf made a perfect lunch for us. But the most important is the chief. Roland came out from the kitchen to see us and we had great hearty chat with him sharing our stories. And desserts were a beautiful culmination of our lunch. A had my best merengue in years. Definitely will visit again and recommend to anyone.

We stumbled upon this spot on Google Maps and took a chance - we're so glad we did! The host/chef was friendly and accommodating, especially with my wife's gluten-free dietary needs - everything was either GF or could be made so. The food was top-notch, with amazing flavors that impressed us both. We even indulged in strawberries and ice cream for dessert (hard to resist, right?). Simple, yet satisfying. We'll definitely be back, and we've already recommended it to friends visiting town. Thanks for the warm welcome and delicious meal!

Our meal was just what the doctor ordered. Not our first visit, but our favourites being prawn cutlets and chef's pasta accompanied by beer and wine which are a nod to Europe always delight us. The timing between courses is spot on and the staff are so friendly and informative. The professionalism is just superb. We have also tested Roland's omelette and the various desserts on offer. Always delighted with our choices. The addition of live music on occasional Sundays is a bonus and so is the availability of this restaurant for private functions. We unreservedly recommend this restaurant

Probably one of the best restaurants that I've tried and visited here in North Island. It's an A+ grading restaurant that provides a diverse menu and high quality of food and services. The food was prepared and cooked by a professional chef. The blueberry shortcake is to die for. The garlic bread, Pan fried tarakihi fillet and lamb shish were delicious and worth every penny. I also loved the ambiance of the restaurant. It's giving a rustic vibe design. It's refreshing and relaxing. The chef is nice, kind and accommodating. If you're looking for a new restaurant and cafe this down thyme is perfect. I will surely come back soon.

Absolutely delicious food. I had the beef cheek, and my husband had the steak. We shared the apple cake for dessert. Flawless! Great service from the owner and head chef. A must-visit if you're anywhere nearby. We live two hours away and will make future trips just to eat here.

Amazing tasting food. Fries were small crispy potatoes and absolutely incredibly delicious. On the expensive side but worth every penny. The owner was there by himself but was very good at multitasking and preparing meals and bringing them out and still having time to chat to our kids.

Situated in Waihi, we found this place via a quick Google search. The food was really really good especially if youβre tired of eating the usual burger/fries/steak and potatoes. We had the mixed platter which had the chicken, lamb and beef grilled kebabs. They were amazing! Quite authentic and very close to actual Turkish/Lebanese food. We had the blueberry tart white vanilla and blueberry ice cream which was surprisingly very tasty. The tart was soft and moist and just melted away. We had some Pinot Gris and dessert wine (Riesling) which went really well with our food. Soul satisfying food!! A must visit if youβre heading to Waihi.

Great atmosphere. Had such a good experience today! Food was amazing. Our host was friendly and very welcoming. We will definitely return. Highly recommend the homemade lemonade, lamb shish kebab and the baklava was the best I've ever tried. Prices were very responsible.

Delicious food, comfort our souls and stomachs after a long detour from road blockage due to road closure in current raining weather. Hosts are a pair of lovely couples who had a nice chat with us. Do drop by, highly recommended for the food and hospitality.

Nice restaurant in the quiet town of Waihi. Owners were very friendly and recommended the lamb. Some of the best I have ever tried. Would recommend if you're looking for some fine dining on your travels in the North island of NZ
