   Loved this place. Lovely views across the river, great food, good service and good selection of brews. Had the lamb rack and market fish and both were excellent.

   We came out still hungry and felt stupid because at first the restaurant seemed promising, nice location and interesting menu. The "market fish of the week" was not fresh and you could tell it was frozen, plastic texture and absence of flavour to it, very little in size (not enough for 36$). We didn't complain to the waitress because she was very nice and not her fault. The lamb main (42$) were basically two small pieces of top of frozen peas and beans, I could not taste any garlic in the "black garlic puree", bah. Their kitchen is a place to heat of the food rather than actual cooking. Not worth the money. Too bad because service and location was fine.

   It would have got 5 stars but they didn't let me know that bringing a cake to a PRIVATE function incurs a $20 fee - despite the fact they don't offer cake. I did contact them but they dismissed me, as they offer dessert. STILL NOT CAKE THOUGH! that celebrates a significant event at a private function. Stated silverware, and dishes/napkins - none of which were supplied. Especially with a food alone spend over $600, not including all $$ spent on alcohol!

   This was our first dinner at Botanic, and we're already planning our return! Fantastic and friendly service, sophisticated setting where you can actually have a conversation and be heard, and delicious well-presented food. Definitely recommend.
