   Disappointing and Overpriced I really wanted to like Popo Dumplings, especially since they have a sign encouraging Google reviews in exchange for free jelly. I was hoping to avoid the typical airport fast food chains and get something that seemed handmade and authentic. Unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing meals I’ve had. I paid $28 for chicken dumplings, a BBQ chicken bun, and pearl milk tea—definitely not worth the money. The Dumplings: Honestly the worst dumplings I’ve ever had. They were mostly thick, doughy wrapping with very little filling inside. What little chicken there was had almost no flavor. It felt like I was eating mostly flour. The BBQ Chicken Bun: The filling was minimal (see photos), which was disappointing enough. But worse, the bun had a strange plastic-like coating on top that I actually had to peel off, in addition to the normal paper underneath. Very odd and off-putting. The Pearl Milk Tea: Completely tasteless—literally like drinking plain milk mixed with water. The pearls were clumpy and stuck together in one mass, making it impossible to drink through the paper straw, which also got soggy quickly (see photos). For airport food, I expected to pay a premium, but this was poor quality at any price point. I won’t be returning.

   Food was okay. Silly requirement to buy 6 dumplings of same type, and same for 3 buns. But we accepted that. Service was very ordinary, clear that staff member did not want to be there.

   One star is me being generous. The food is bad. Look at the photo below. $13 NZD for 6 overcooked, cheap, frozen dumplings that you could easily buy from the supermarket. The sorry, sad looking veggies on the side taste as sad as they look. The disgusting food is perfectly matched with the extraordinarily appalling customer service. The lady had really poor communication. I ordered beef dumplings and she told me they ran out of pork and prawn dumplings and some other buns that I had no intention to purchase anyway. She managed to talk to me the customer in a condescending tone and in a “not give a damn” face. I’m surprised that they are still in business. This is by far the worst thing I’ve eaten in my entire NZ trip. Avoid at it all cost.

   It deserves Five stars. Staff were nice. Self service. Food - the best airport food for its price. You can't complain anything about the dumplings. Taste's good, not the best of course. It's only $9 and you can't expect the Michelin 3 Stars quality. I dare say that you won't regret. One of the best airport food ever.

   The prawn and pork dumplings were delicious. The pork bun had too much bun but otherwise was really nice. Staff were nice enough. The prices are very cheap and reasonable. For airport food it would be a five. I'll definitely stop by here again when in Auckland airport next.
