The portion of chips I received for the price I paid relative to other chippy shops in the area was quite disappointing. Save to say I won’t be returning any time soon.
I recently picked up two samosas from Laingholm Takeaways. The filling inside is really tasty — great flavour — but unfortunately, it was ice cold. It would be a big improvement if they could microwave or warm the filling before putting it into the pastry. Also, the ordering/payment setup is not very convenient: you place your takeaway order at the shop, but then have to walk all the way to the dairy to pay, and then walk back to collect your food. It’d be much better if you could just pay right at the takeaway. On a brighter note, the fish and chips here are fantastic — no complaints at all. That part of the menu absolutely delivers. Overall, solid food but a few small service issues that hold it back from being a 5-star place.
Previous owner was fantastic, now in the last few months place has ran down and now hardly open.When it does open the original menu board has been halved!
We’d previously avoided Laingholm takeaways since moving here a few years ago because the few instances we tried it was expensive, young and inexperienced staff and the food being overwhelmingly disappointing. This was our first time trying since the new owners and I’m guessing they’ve listened to their reviews. We ordered 1x Smokey bbq burger, 1x spicy chicken, $5 chips & 2x crab sticks. It came to $32 and was ready within 15 minutes. We’ve tried all the burger places in the area and this one will now be our go to. The Smokey bbq burger tasted like it was actually done on the grill to get that Smokey flavour, good amount of bacon and the condiments complimented the burger (not overpowering). Both burgers were fresh like a homemade burger and the chips, could have been more (like the good old days) but they were salted nicely with the right amount of crunch. I’d definitely recommend checking these guys out again. Staff was really quick and pleasant too.
First of all, the pricing is fantastically reasonable. The battered fish is PERFECTION, as are the wedges, although I wish they came with sweet chilli sauce as well as sour cream.
Clean place, clean oil, the fish is amazing. We ordered fish Tarakihi. It was very very nicely done. Will definitely get more
Amazing fish and chips the snapper is very good. Friendly staff, not long wait time everything was prepared perfectly.
Great people, great service, cheap prices! Highly recommend you get some chow and sit on the beach enjoying it!
