   We are very disappointed…. My boyfriend got his hair cut there. I showed the hair dresser a picture of what we wanted and it came out much shorter. He didn’t really listen what we wanted and was also not very friendly. During the whole stay he didn’t ask us one single question even though I tried to start a conversation. When my boyfriend said it was too short he said it was my fault…He didn’t even say sorry… It‘s a total different cut to what we wanted and we‘re not satisfied at all…

   If Alex ever decides to move, I think I might have to follow! One of the best hairdressers I’ve ever had. I come here regularly and get my haircut by Alex every 4–5 weeks (been getting my haircut for over a year now.... I think) — honestly, I look forward to every session. Alex is a true maestro when it comes to cutting hair; he always knows exactly what to do. Since my first consultation with him, I haven’t had to change my hairstyle once. Now I just sit down, have a good chat with Alex, and walk out with a perfect cut every time. My partner absolutely loves my hair, and I even get compliments at work about how good it looks! Alex, you’re a legend with the scissors! See you again P.S. Alex went back to Korea and I almost lost it. 11/10 would recommend A+++

   Haven’t had a professional haircut in four years and it was a breath of fresh air to come here. I’ve never been so happy with a haircut. Alex is like Edward scissor-hands. Clearly a master at his trade. It was really awesome to have a stylist know what they’re talking about and completely bring my vision to life. Plus it was so affordable. Thanks for the awesome confidence boost!

   I have been on a long journey to find a place that does a great scalp massage and I am happy to say I have finally found one in Auckland! I booked the men's new client and was pleasantly surprised with the service and inclusions. I particularly appreciated that in the form to fill in there was a check box for 'talkative level" (paraphrasing) as I'm not the most talkative person and can sometimes struggle to hear over a clipper. A bit hard to find on the street, so if you've found it it's definitely worth a visit.

   I went to ilium salon because my brother gets his perm done here and it looks really good and gets a lot of compliments. I didn’t know what to expect at all as it was my first perm experience. Alex was very careful and clear on what to expect when I told him what I wanted and realistically, the results. He put effort to understand the root of what I actually wanted and recommend me the medium wave digital (hippie) perm. I am SO HAPPY with my results. His technique is very skilled, practical and low maintenance which I was relieved to hear. My hair also surprisingly feels soft and not damaged. I do admit there was a slight friction at some point in our conversation but I do believe that it is a slight language barrier and struggling to understand each other’s true intention (because we literally don’t know each other). I ask a lot of questions because I love learning about what I get done and sharing it with my friends who are interested. I think maybe I was misunderstood as questioning his ability instead — which was not the case at all! I will 100% go back to Alex again. I have pictured the day of the fresh perm and a week later. Beautiful results. So many compliments THANK YOU ALEX! see you again for my next perm!

   I do not recommend this salon if you have curly hair. Besides charging more for curly hair the hairdresser clearly has little knowledge and understanding about curly hair. He definitely advocates for straighter hair being better and as someone who loves my curly hair this was rude and uncomfortable. He also is not one to respect what you want to have done and gives opinions that seem quite uneducated about hair. Overall not the best experience and if you have any form of curl pattern do not go here.

   Went for a haircut, treatment and styling in the salon today. The shop has a special promotion for new customers. Alex was attentive, very focussed on the task and explained my hair and blow-drying tips. He is also patient and recommended keratin smoothing for my next appointment. I found a new hairdresser in town today. Thank you, Alex!

   I wanted to make this salon my new one since my old salon had to close due to flooding damage . However this is not the case . Although I know the stylist Alex may be experienced I feel like my hair is ruined. All I wanted was simple blonde full head of highlights but that's not what I got , I got ful colour bleach all over which I have never had in my life. I trusted him to make this decision but I left the salon in shock at my hair , far too blonde for my complexion I decided to go back to the salon the next day and ask for a darker toner as I'm not happy at all . I found Alex to be abit confrontational towards the situation almost blaming me for what had happend, he then proceeded to tell me maybe this is not the salon for me and I should go somewhere else. Which I find really rude considering i first booked for highlights and he said he could do it and now I now have bondish/ gray colored hair . So if anybody wants blonde highlights etc I would not recommend going here .

   I had a great experience with Ilium Salon! Alex was friendly and explained things to me, then left me to read my book while he worked. He was extremely efficient when cutting. I got a digital perm which I love (had long straight fine hair) and when one section didn’t hold as well as the rest, he happily had me come back to fix it up. I will definitely come again.
