A small night spot that often features live music. The lounge space is quite small so plan to get there early otherwise you'll be standing in the doorway or sitting on the floor.
The live jazz is cool as hell, and the literal atmosphere of the venue is great as they're the only one I know that has air filtration and real time information on the quality of the air. If you're still cautious about airborne illness, or if you just like to be on the cutting edge of craft beer, this is the place for you.
One of my favourite places in town. Saturday night there is always a cool band on so we go every couple of weeks. I used to sell kegs of beer to this joint back when I owned a craft brewery and they were great to deal with then (I assure you this in itself is rare!) and are awesome now I’m a customer. Beer is an awesome choice of local and NZ craft beer. 5 stars all round.
One of the best venues in town, and has been for years. Super considerate and kind staff, love the active COVID considerations, and appreciate the vegan-friendliness. An “underground” gem, who deserves bountiful support and love.
Excellent venue for very intimate gigs (bar is literally underground) Great variety of Craft Beer & friendly staff.
Come for the beer but not the decor. Always has a great selection of craft beer on tap and in the fridge. It’s out of the way location means it can be a little quiet compared to the bars of Courtenay Place. An old reliable. Built for comfort.
Hidden gem. This place's esthetic is true Japanese and yet, it's blended so well with good world beer and the art of conversation. Dominic, the bar owner made me feel welcomed and we chatted about the world and beer for ages. They made me great beer recommendations and made me a stonkin' vegan sandwich (pulled jackfruit). Low-key. Friendly. Tasty beer and snacks. Top marks!
Came in to try some different beers. We liked the atmosphere as well as what sounds like a changing range or beer options. While great for beer it was less great for dumplings which we ordered (bad to mediocre). Due to the beers available and atmosphere it was a positive overall experience.
