Daldy street parking is more of an Urban space with some kid friendly activities rather than a traditional park with large green areas. The proximity to the street makes it important for parents to keep an eye on their kids. The nearby evening market is a great attraction and the area overall has a quiet and pleasant atmosphere.
Heaps of seating areas. Nice and tall two super-cool slides. All the Native trees around the park. Good spend time there. Nice long walk to city.
The park designer here is truly the worst. It seems like thoughtless designers, driven solely by the desire to appear novel, have designed inefficiently and without consideration for users. Some areas are dangerously steep, posing risks to pedestrians or mobility users, and the narrow gravel pathways in the linear park are impassable, overtaken by plants, and will eventually need renovation at the expense of citizens' budgets. Please, instead of pursuing artistically formed designs, strive for designs that are easily accessible and usable by citizens.
The park has some areas to sit and enjoy lunch or just rest in the city.
Daldy Street Park is a great pocket park to meet friends for lunch, have fun with your dog, sit quietly in the sun. The birds have found the trees in this park, Love this oasis.
Daldy St Park has been beautifully designed to suit people taking their lunch or tea break outside. Good mix of shade and seating to accommodate many people without feeling overcrowded. In an area full of apartments and office buildings, it creates a lovely restful contrast.
We sat outside, which was pleasant and gave us some distance from other customers; a preference of one of our party of 4. We all enjoyed our meals and coffees. Prices were fair. Bathrooms were great. The staff were all lovely. Water kept getting topped up without asking, for instance; however the wait for both coffee and meals was very long. They did seem relatively busy. We had just been part of the Auckland 1/2; so we were ok to sit a bit, but we could of vacated that table a good 30 minutes earlier with prompter service. I would go there again.
A great addition to the wynyard quarter. Perfect for lunch in the sun
This is only a tiny piece of what Wynyard Quarter Playspace has to offer and you can easily lose a few hours here exploring the different attractions. The 7 metre high silo inspired playground can be found on Daldy Street, Wynyard, Auckland. You can visit the fish market, watch the America’s Cup teams prepare for the upcoming races, enjoy one of the many eateries or explore the various playgrounds, splash parks and interactive play structures. Take scooters or bikes along to explore more of Wynyard or a basketball to shoot some hoops. Currently (October 2020) the whole area is a hive of construction so an added bonus for those children who love things that go, diggers, cranes, trucks and the associated banging and crashing. #DiscoverFun #Playz #Playground
