Well it was our last Dinner in Newzealand before we left with wonderful memories of great trip of Newzealand across both the islands. And I must say it was one of the best dinner. Great food, wonderful service and sweet vibes.
Absolutely amazing Indian food. We had pani puri, samosa chaat, veg shaami kebab, malai chicken, shaam savera, amritsari murg and many amazing cocktails. Everything was perfection from service, food presentation and most importantly the taste. Fresh jalebi and gulab jamoon were also delicious. We enjoyed our food and this is definitely one of the best indian restaurants I have been to around the world. Highly recommend it for everyone.
My wife and I landed in Auckland after 36 hours of travelling from the UK, and after checking in and cleaning up we were in desperate need of some good food and we just happened upon this place while out walking. The service, the food and the atmosphere were stunning. There was a good mix of seating for parties small and large, and their offerings were genuinely delicious. The food arrived hot, fresh and in good time, and the service was superb. They have an excellent range of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, including some excellent mocktails. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place, and I am only sad that we probably won't get back there during our time here in Auckland!
I had spinach kofta and garlic naan in dinner yesterday (i.e. 28 Aug 2025). The food was very delicious. They offered me peanuts free of cost, as starter. The staff is very polite and courteous. The restaurant is very spacious with a great ambience. I enjoyed having dinner here.
Extremely flavoursome food, really excellent vibe in the restaurant with lighting and booths at the back. We had a booth and a party of 7, they accommodated us well, the background music was also at a perfect level and good tunes. The food was delicious and very flavoursome, service was good and food came quite quickly. They also prepared and brought out a birthday cake that we brought. All up a good experience, would recommend
We love 1947 Eatery. Best butter chicken I’ve ever tried. The lamb chops and garlic bread are also delicious. Really good vibes and jazzy atmosphere in the restaurant, the Kiwi version of Dishoom in London.
Came here for Auckland restaurant month menu. We decided on a late lunch; the restaurant was quiet, but seems like a good place for an intimate dinner. Service could have been a bit more attentive, but wasn’t too bad. The food was good; highlights include the malai chicken starter and the lamb and chicken mains. They cook with a tandoor here and the meat as incredibly tender and flavoursome. The quantity of food for the main courses was pretty good; we ended up packing a fair bit! All in all, a good experience and would like to come again for dinner
The butterchicken was pretty good, we enjoyed the tandoorichicken, freshly cooked we could still smell the charcoal. The lamb pepper fry was full of flavour. It was a great experience.
This is my favourite Indian restaurant in Auckland. Of course, authentic Indian food like chicken curry and naan is delicious, but the best dish is lamb chops. It is spicy, Indian-flavoured, and very yummy. Each serving contains four chops, but you can add more in increments of one. The restaurant is child-friendly with kids' chairs, but there may not be much on the menu that children can eat as well.
Modern Indian cuisine in a great ambiance no fuss service a good place to hangout have delicious food and bespoke cocktails pairing well presented dishes spacious area fast service what else do you need this is a no brainer 1947 serves you right all dishes for sharing are a good portion just right will definitely comeback
