Trusted part of our world. We get dragged into the building by the dog…..what does that tell you Allan and Gael Mearns and Fyfe and Hidee

Not impressed with the service at all. Our vet was full so my daughter brought our cat here ( I was working) as it was the only vet in the area that had a free slot. I mentioned that she was not a good patient. Because she was hissing and trying to scratch anyone getting her out the cage, she was deemed as angry. Not terrified or in pain. Nick Smith sent my daughter home saying they would call later. I called at 11 and she didn’t been seen. Third in line. Nick called me at lunch to say he would not take her out unless I was there, as he didn’t know the cat or me and he wanted to meet me first. I asked him if he was qualified to deal with a small cat who might scratch him and to use gloves to get her out and to check her eye, which had been the main cause for concern. I also told him of my concern that she had not eaten or drunk for 24 hours and was obviously in pain and he replied she would be fine. I could only see Nick at 4 pm. I was not comfortable with the treatment of my cat, so I called my daughter to fetch her immediately and take her to the animal referral centre in Albany. She was seen straight away. Turns out she has a fractured jaw and had a surgical wire inserted plus a scratched cornea and ulceration of the eye. She was left for 5 and a half hours in her cage, nil by mouth, because Nick didn’t want any members of his staff bitten or scratched. Is this not their job to know how to handle a scared injured animal who is only 3 kgs?? I really didn’t appreciate the condescending nature of his call either. Never going there again.

Honestly not even 1 star but I have to give it 1 star to write a review because I can’t say nothing and others go through an experience like ours… We took our 1 year old dog (maybe younger) to the vet after 2 weeks of diarrhoea. He said it was normal and he gave us some medicine to stop the runny poo and said to swap him to ID food. We went away thinking our dog was fine but after a couple more weeks he pooped straight up water blood so we rushed him to the emergency vet where he spent the whole weekend and they said he had giardia and they where very shocked the vet didn’t do a stool sample when we brought him in the first time. That emergency vet appointment could’ve saved thousands of dollars, lots of trauma, and kept our dog healthy and safe for his future if this vet literally just tested his poop. This is our first dog so we didn’t think much of the runny poo at first but we took him in when he was still somewhat ok. It’s not our fault we thought he was fine when the vet literally said he was fine and sent us home only for our dog to get so absolutely sick. Was a horrible experience and it’s still effecting our dog till this day. We now take him to Forrest hill vet and they are amazing and I trust their opinions compared to this vet. I hope no one else goes through this horrible experience with their loved one.

Our Muschi of 20 years inherited us and she never had any health issues. We just visited NH Vets twice, a month ago to have her nails trimmed and last week where her body was just shutting down. From the reception to veterinary staff, all extremely helpful, loving, caring and empathetic. Highly recommended and Thank You to You All

My parents have been going to the previous vet for all our pet needs for years. However with the new vet they have found him to not have the animals best interest but his finances. We’ve been traveling and needed our cats to be vaccinated so we thought we’d try this vet ourselves. Upon arriving a tad early to the practice, all we hear is gas-bagging by the staff in the back (loudly so we could hear). There were no other patients in the waiting room, and they went on in the back while we waited. I completely accept waiting if they were busy, but not when they were just gossiping. The vet is the typical macho man who loves to mansplain. I can see he is good with the animals, but I don’t appreciate all the procedures and products he tried to sell us when we’ve only attended for vaccinations (and we have common sense). Since then, we’ve gone to another Vet down the road with a wonderful experience. Shame as this practice is within walking distance from our house.

Ive been to about 5 different vets throughout my dogs decade of life. Nick is hands down the best, the most skilled, very confident, trustable, good results, affable, wholly kind. He also has the best nurses, very onto it, not emotionally driven, strong personality. All are amazing

Super impressed. Changed to this practice after a number of bad experiences at our previous vet practice in Milford. Nick and his team are a breath of fresh air - caring, competent, and thorough. Our dogs loved it and were far more relaxed with them. Highly recommended.
