Expensive, overpriced products. When I compare this store's prices compared to their counterparts - Thorndon, Porirua, Te Aro, Kerikeri, I genuinely cannot understand why their prices are stupidly expensive. Bakery range could be better. Doesn't matter that the store is smaller, other small NW shops offer a better range

I really want this super market to be so much better as its the closet supermarket to me. but I usually avoid it as it's disappointing to us. It's vegetable department is not well stocked or fresh and lacks variety. The deli department not good - why cant they stock the other salami brands that other New Worlds stock? the current selection look old and a weird colour, what about some parma and prosciutto? The bakery department is also not good - where are the baguettes and fresh breads like other new world stock? It's all cheap and nasty baking. Have you seen what Silverstream is doing in their bakery? it is very good and very popular. I think Hutt City NW have a long way to go to be at the standard of other New World supermarkets such as Wellington, Thorndon, or even Silverstream. If the owner is reading this: please take this feedback constructively to improve and lift your standards - I guarantee you will get more business if you do! In fairness to them though I notice they have done a recent upgrade to the store in the vegetable department area so it looks better and the meat department is good. Edit: have just discovered these la authentique italian sausages they are, soooo good! Have upgraded to three stars for this very reason. I have also noticed they make donuts now so definitely seeing signs of improvements yay!
Why have the Scales been removed from the fruit and vegetables area in the Lower Hutt store?? With price hikes of these items and most of us living on a strict budget, the scales would help us to know what we are spending. To be told by the staff member stocking up fruit on the evening of Fri 7th July items will be weighed at checkout was certainly not helpful. Bring back the Scales please. Countdown around the corner has 2!!!
Local supermarket, across the road from Queensgate Mall. I usually come here for the petrol on site, which also has an air compressor for tires, and free water for topping up the car etc. Petrol usually well priced and convenient for me to get to from my home.
Decent super market with heaps of park and two ways to enter if from two different streets. Really like the options for lunch. You have to get in quickly though as they run out fast.
Great store price's a lot more reasonable than our New World in Foxton. I don't understand as I was told that all New Worlds had the same pricing on most items. Well this experience blow that out of the water. So know I don't know if we are being ripped off or not.??. Who puts the price on the item. Is it Food Stuffs or the owner.??
Went here for groceries while I was in the area. The store is mostly well stocked, clean and tidy. It has fresh veggie, fruit,meat, poultry, bread, cleaning products, beauty products, over the counter medicines, vitamins. and most of the things we need at home. It also sells some stationeries, socks and panty hose if you need them. Some prices can be a bit higher. I always look for the sale items and everyday save for extra discounts. Staff are friendly and helpful, when I need some assistance. Check out counter is also fast. The store is disability friendly. The parking lot is spacious. You have to scan the COVID - 19 tracker while entering the premises.
