Amazing food and service. Love the ambiance there too; very chill. The menu has more choices than the current Google map photos show.

My favorite Indian restaurant in Wellington. I've had lunch here weekly and tasted about half of the curries on the menu, which were all delicious and kept me coming back. My number 1 pick was the Shabnam Curry. Very friendly staff, small and cosy atmosphere and fair prices. Moving back to Europe after living in Welly for a year and Planet Spice is one of the things about Newtown that I will miss the most! Thanks for all the delicious meals!

Absolutely beautiful food! Awesome staff. My friend and I were well looked after all night. Very chill atmosphere, lighting, music, people and general vibe was great. My ex-vegan side was very happy when the waiter came out and double checked our allergies as my friend and I had unknowingly ordered two dairy-free dishes (neither of us had mentioned allergies) - very mindful and caring. The only downside is there arenβt enough seats/tables considering how popular it gets - so gotta get in quick, donβt miss out!

Ordered lamb korma. The taste is okay, not the best compared to other indian places that do the flavour better. The sauce haas no buttery taste whatsoever and just tastes like a glorified tomato sauce. There is no nutty undertones either. Can hardly call is lamb korma? Pasta sauce is the best way to describe the taste. Pasta sauce and lamb. It was not the best... but it was okay. Rice was good. Food arrived hot. Containers were in good condition and food was not spilled. Overall a 2/5 because the flavor was really lacking.

Once was Newtown's curry jam. Not anymore folks. Usually a curry house has the wonderful fragrance of spice on the air. This places smells like a kebab joint. I have always purchased the ever reliable butter chicken. I ordered medium it was so mild my meat and 3 vege Dad could have eaten it. The curry was runny and chicken chewy. Even the Garlic Naan was void of garlic. The manager even assured me the food was still the same, as I had noticed it was a management change. Really dissatisfied. Would also like to note I have frequented Planet Spice over 15 years. Not going back, there are other Curdy houses in Newtown.

Worst food in Wellington. DAL MAKHANI IS A SIGNATURE DISH OF EVERY RESTAURANT but that was worst one bitter taste and Rogan Josh is more like dhaba style.i would not recommend any one to go there to waste money

Has a good range of menu selections and the food is always good. We usually get takeaway, probably more than once a month, but reciently opted for dine in. Seating is between the entrance and the counter so on busy nights there is a constant stream of takeaway patrons passing your table.

Absolutely delicious. The best Indian Iβve ever eaten. The coconut chicken was divine and melted in my mouth. The stuffed mushrooms were perfect. Great friendly service. Highly recommend.

Do you want the best butter chicken in Wellington? I challenge you to find a better option than Planet Spice. My palate for Indian food isnβt the broadest but in my 48 years Iβve had A LOT of butter chicken and since the departure of Dawaat from Manners Mall (when it used to actually be a Mall) I havenβt found an Indian restaurant / takeaway that tops Planet Spice. Normally I go for a takeaway, and save half for delicious next day leftovers. However I recently had a chance to dine in, which gave me the opportunity to stray from my usual sides of garlic naan, roti or onion bhaji. I went for the lamb curry puffs as a starter, which could almost serve as a meal in itself. Curry puffs, much like spring rolls, are an excellent measure of whether a restaurant cares to put effort into their staples or whether they just stock up on bulk frozen items and deep fry the life out of them when needed. I certainly donβt expect these to be hand made to order, but these puffs tasted fresh and flavourful. Given that I would be eating an entire main after a substantial starter I opted for a lighter side in the kachumber - basically diced tomato, cucumber and red onion, with a bit of spice. This turned out to be a perfect accompaniment to the sweetness of the main course. It may even steer me away from my favourite bread sides in future orders. Certainly a more guilt-free selection. Another essential addition is a mango lassi - perfect to temper any heat and double as a dessert. Thanks Planet Spice for another winning meal.
