   Very tasty well priced sushi with excellent service. I arrived before they had any of the sushi ready on the counter and they graciously made some for me in only a couple of minutes. The place is clean and the Katsu bowl is also excellent.

   I ask udon to take away a hit worried cause I have to walk a bit back to my offices. I ask a Katsu udon with a bit of resignation as the Katsu for sure will be soggy. But to my surprise the take away bowl is very nice and have a little plate that allows to separate the Katsu from the soup so crispy Katsu and hot soup all the way. Also very cheap price as 17 nzd for all the service is neat. I do have a Sakura right next to the office but I don't think they have udon. Also the sir that gave me my udon was super polite and warn me to be careful which I find very sweet in the way he said it to me. So definitely will be back often.

   Service is incredibly quick and efficient. You can consistently get in and out within a few minutes even during the peak lunch hour. The staff are very friendly and accommodating of any requests. The food is good value for the budget conscious eater. Extremely clean and tidy restaurant to enjoy a meal at.

   Update 8th Feb 8,months since my last visit They not only have equalled the previous service and food experience they have absolutely surpassed it. This Japanese food is the most delicious Japanese food in New Zealand. No matter the meal the food offered excelled my expectations at every level. This shop nails japanese cuisine everytime. The staff are amazingly friendly and I know will probably eat there more as the whole package of great food good prices and great service is unequalled in NZ I truely recommend for everyone wanting to experience genuine Japanese food call in on them in lower lambton quay. I enjoyed a very delicious brunch a sakura special It was absolutely amazing it was totally authentic. I recently had a bad experience with a sushi chain in Auckland. But Sakura Sushi is the real deal. The rice was cooked perfectly and all the ingredients prepared to perfection The staff are helpful and friendly I have spent many years in Japan and have a japanese wife and she could not have prepared this meal better Totally recommend Bon Appetit everyone The Sakura Sushi is located 17 Lambton Quay on the left hand side of Lambton Quay Very central and convenient for a quick bite or a healthy lunch

   5 stars for the lovely customer service and efficiency. But 1 star for the vegetarian donburi. The fritter was yum but the 'tofu' and sauce were weird and extremely sweet. I am curious about the chicken katsu that is so popular and whether its the same sauce (?) - if so I assume the chicken helps balance the sweetness.
