We had a fantastic dinner at Taiko Kingsland. From the moment we sat down, the atmosphere was buzzing and the presentation of the food was next-level. The Highlights: The Sashimi Tower: This is a must-order! It arrives at the table in a cloud of dry ice "smoke," which created a real "wow" moment for everyone. The quality of the salmon, tuna, and oysters was top-tierβsuper fresh and beautifully plated. Squid Ink Pasta: This was a standout fusion dish. The dark, savory sauce on the noodles paired perfectly with the crispy fried squid. Highly recommended if you want something unique. Sizzling Mains & Sushi: We loved the sizzling scallops and the Aburi Wagyu Beef rolls. The beef was incredibly tender, and the flavors were perfectly balanced. Atmosphere: Itβs a great spot for a family dinner. Even the drinks were fun, served with colorful umbrellas that matched the lively mood. The staff were attentive and the food came out perfectly timed. We used First Table for an early dinner booking, which gave us 50% off the food billβamazing value for such a high-quality meal. If you are in Kingsland and want a Japanese dinner that feels like a special occasion, Taiko is the place to go!

We ordered too much and weβre not even slightly mad about it!! The eel and wagyu platters look like youβll even up rolling out but if you skip the rice thereβs so much delicate flavour. The staff are lovely and the atmosphere is cool and cozy. Will be coming back to tick off more of the menu. Ace sake collection!

The atmosphere was great, there was plenty of street parking nearby, and the food was delicious and came out quickly for such a reasonable price! Iβd love to come back in the evening and try some other dishes next time.

We went as a group and tried their courses and squid ink pasta. It was a good experience and good food. The pricing is a bit on the higher end, however the overall taste is worth it. Maybe once a year to avoid hurting your wallet too much haha.

The unagi was delicious! A good portion too. The wagyu lunch set was just okay, a little tough. Sashimi tower didn't actually have much sashimi for the price, but the few pieces that were there tasted fresh. The yum yum prawns came on a preheated plate, not on an actively sizzling plate with a flame underneath like in the photo so the yum yum sauce didn't have that delicious grilled flavour - I expected the top to be torched, but unfortunately it wasn't. Overall it was okay! For the price I would try somewhere else. Apparently the other branch is better though?

One of fantastic Japanese restaurants in Auckland. You can taste authentic Japanese food here cooked by Japanese chefs. Loved eating lunch specials including sashimi, tempura, karaage & chicken Katsu. They were all nice & tasty Staff were friendly as well. Loved to go back there.

As I failed booking with the other branch in Ponsonby which is my regular place, I tried here on Sunday evening. All the menu was the same but food quality and presentation were in somewhat disappointing. Staff were friendly but hard to draw their attention because all staff were standing back turned on customers.

Takio is a great Japanese restaurant in Kingsland! The atmosphere is cozy while able to cater for larger groups. My table ordered the Katsu Chicken, Salmon and Avocado Sushi, Takoyaki and Sizzling Yum Yum prawns. All were excellent. The presentation of the food and portion sizes is incredible. I would highly recommend it.
