    The food was OK. We ordered roast pork knuckles however, the pork rind was not that crispy as it should be..some part was some part not. And it should have more salt for better flavour. The portion of the food was good though. We decided to try Apple strudel but it was not cook properly. So disappointed with that one. The alcohol free beers were really nice. Would definitely go back for the beers and maybe try currywurst or schnitzel.

    This has been on my list for awhile now and we finally made it in October for Octoberfest! the food is underwhelming not something I expected in an authentic looking German place the service can be better however as much as the service staff was friendly and nice she struggled as she was alone good to try at least once

    Recommended! A lovely German restaurant that beautifully blends traditional charm with modern German elements. P1. Schnitzel & Spätzle 4/5 I ordered chicken schnitzel and spätzle with mushroom cream sauce — such a gigantic portion for one person! The schnitzel was crispy on the outside and super tender and juicy on the inside. The spätzle looked like irregularly shaped pasta and tasted soft with a pleasant egg aroma. Everything was served with a rich, creamy mushroom sauce that was absolutely delicious. P2. Nürnberger Main 2/5 Pan-fried Nuremberg-style white pork sausages served with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. The portion was quite large for one person as well. The sausages and mashed potatoes were average, while the sauerkraut helped cut through the greasiness of the sausages nicely. P3. Apfelstrudel 3/5 This was a large slice of apple pie(looks like) served with fresh fruit, whipped cream, and vanilla ice cream. The pastry was crisp and buttery, while the filling of sliced apples and raisins with cinnamon and sugar gave it a warm, comforting flavor. It tasted like a classic dessert from an old-fashioned bakery.

    Wow, what a night. We went for a birthday dinner . The atmosphere was great, the food was exceptional, with huge portions, the service was excellent. We wanted for nothing. We'd certainly go back to Der Metz. Highly recommend

    Happy to have found this authentic German restaurant, just a stone’s throw from the beautiful Kohimarama Beach. The menu offers a great selection at reasonable prices including kids menu, and the portions are generous—both my husband and I could only finish half of our dishes! Lovely decorations, nice indoor and outdoor seating, friendly service, and convenient parking available at the rear or on the street. We’ll definitely be back to try more dishes!

    Good food, big portions, great atmosphere. We had a good time there and enjoyed our meals. The service was a little slow but understandably due to several large bookings on the night. We were a table of 10 and there was another table of at least 20 with us all ordering pretty much at the same time. There were also lots of others in the restaurant on top of that with both sides of the restaurant full. Friendly staff great night out.

    Der Mets never disappoints with their range of great beers as well their epic menu. My group of 7 had 4 different beers each, Jägermeister shots, individual selected meals and a pork hock to share. Safe to say we were well hungover the next day but not hungry. We had great banter from the staff also 10/10 experience!

    Food is great, the jägerschnitzel was delicious. Staff are very friendly. There are tables outside near heaters, which is a dog friendly area and more quiet than inside the restaurant. Service is not fast, so it isn’t a place for a quick meal. Would definitely come back for more schnitzel.

    On our pursuit to slowly tick off every Iconic Eat in Auckland, we came across Der Metz. We ordered the Schnitzel and the pork platter and both dishes were incredible. The gravy they served with the pork was insane and I was regretting not getting a side order of just gravy. All in all 10/10

    The food is very good but the service was pretty damn bad. We were the first people and the restaurant was empty but we got the bread after we finished the food!! There was a young guy there who seemed very confused, it could be his first day. The lady who helped us although there was a delay but she had a nice smile and very good attitude.
