“Christchurch Girls' High School was established in 1877 and is the second oldest girls-only secondary school in the country, after Otago Girls' High School. The school stands by the Avon River, on a site it has occupied since 1986. Previously, the area was occupied by a mill that was first built in 1861 by William Derisley Wood, which became known as the Riccarton Mill. It is also next to the Mona Vale Garden park.”

“This school is just a fun time school”
“My daughter has been in BS Fendalton for almost a year. She is always happy staying in the center and getting more and more confidence in social skills and preparation for school. As a parent, we are also quite happy to see our child playing, eating and learning all well in here. We are always comfortable to get in touch with any teacher in the center. The four-year group which is a program for preschoolers ready to school, is running so well and my daughter keeps talking about it to us every time she learns new stuff. There are also lots of outside-centre activities each week, from which Children can get chances to be closer to nature and our community. We really recommend families to have their children in here if they are looking for a center nearby.”
“Dedicated teachers with many opportunities for the kids to be involved outside of the classroom.”
“My daughter has been going here for over a year now. She has grown and blossomed into a wonderful happy girl that comes home singing and excited to tell us about all her awesome field trips, arts and crafts and wonderful time together here!”

“Can’t beat small rural schools for community”
“I may not have made any friends there, but the school itself was amazing. The teachers that taught me there were good, and because of how small the school is, you can get a lot more achievements and certificates, unlike bigger primary schools. I rate this school 5 out of 5.”
