“Hawkins Theatre in Papakura is now open after refurbishment. Hawkins theatre is a great place to meet with friends and enjoy each others company while catching a movie, school performances, Dane competitions, events and awards, The Glow Show, or a fun time with Operatunity!! You can purchase ice-cream, coffee, biscuits, or wine at the bar. You can take them into the theatre with you also. If you are a senior and purchase your tickets online for the movies, currently they are only $10:00. Hawkins theatre is also a lovely place to take the grandchildren/mokopuna for the movies anytime. There is often a Ladies night, which costs $24 or $26 depending if you purchase in advance or at the door. Thus usually involves a chick flick(however some me do attend) a drink of any kind and an ice-cream. A great deal. Here are a few photos of the April program to pique your interest.”
“Very nice and large park in the busy Onehunga area. The flora are well maintained and the walkways are nicely curated. The location is easily accessible and ample parking is available on the streets. Public toilets are available and are nicely maintained. A large sized fountain is also installed in here. A decent sized children's play area is there, which attracts a lot of kids. Proximity to the Onehunga pools is an added advantage. Well recommended.”
“Great location and very well maintained. Big park and they need to consider adding some activities for kids.”
“Glover Park is a neat and tidy playground suitable for all ages. It is close to the sports fields, toilets and the Glover Park Path #DiscoverFun #GloverPark #aucklandplaygrounds #aucklandkids #kidsinauckland #playground #kiwikids #Playz”
“It was a peaceful walk with few people around. I had fun visiting the Chelsea Visitor Centre and learned about the process of making sugar. There was an interactive activity room for young ones to enjoy, as well as a great café and public spaces suitable for all ages.”
“Kids had the best time, such an awesome course to complete, we did black and thoroughly enjoyed. Also got a great deal purchasing tickets through bookme.”
“Small venue but intimate, enjoyed myself and seeing my fav bands upclose. Staff friendly and accommodating. Smoking/ vape area outside with seating.”
“Bruce Pullman Park truly shines as an outstanding destination for a day of fun and relaxation! The park is meticulously maintained, boasting ample green spaces that are perfect for picnics and outdoor games. Children will adore the fantastic playground area including the basketball court and the dedicated cycling area. Additionally, there are various car roads that provides a safe environment for those learning to drive. The walking trails are perfect for a leisurely stroll. Plus, the park offers several lovely spots for birdwatching, making it a peaceful haven to unwind and connect with nature. It's a perfect place to create lasting memories.”
“Really nice park. They are as of 13/07 they are repairing the basketball hoops so you can't play but the netball hoops are still working and they haven't closed those off. There is a lot of plants and trees and open space, saw a couple of rainbow lorikeets which was pretty cool. The only thing they need is a dog bowl connected to the water fountain. Apart from that it's great.”
“Great walk track and huge field. Picnic seats in shade for lunch right in front of big playground. Never busy here and loads of parking. Public toilets just up path too.”
“Blockhouse Bay Beach Reserve, located in Auckland's Blockhouse Bay suburb, is a charming spot offering a blend of natural beauty and recreational amenities. The reserve features a small beach with soft sand, making it suitable for swimming, picnicking, and leisurely walks along the shore. Families will appreciate the well-maintained playground, providing a safe and enjoyable area for children. The surrounding greenery, complete with picnic tables and benches, offers a serene environment for relaxation. Facilities such as public toilets and outdoor showers are available for visitor convenience. However, parking can be limited during peak times, so arriving early is advisable. While the beach is relatively modest in size, its tranquil atmosphere and scenic views make it a delightful destination for both locals and tourists seeking a peaceful retreat.”
“Enclosed playground so you can relax a little while the kids play. Plenty of picnic tables, and play equipment for all ages 1-11y.o approx”
“Great park for the locals to relax. Parking can be an issue for busy summer time.”
“A peaceful oasis right on the waterfront! Scenic walking paths, native birdlife, and sweeping ocean views make it perfect for a relaxed stroll. The grassy areas are ideal for picnics, and the playground is great if you’re bringing kids. Highly recommend!”
“Last international act I saw was back in the 80s in the 'super top' with UB40. Boy things have changed. And for the better. Plenty of kiosks & free water. The arena's sound system is 1st class & its probably the way I would like to see acts from overseas.”
“This is such an awesome place! I would not have known it existed, if I had not gotten a Grab One voucher. The gentleman at the kiosk is very friendly and helpful. It is truly enchanting, with fun unexpected things to discover. There are little tucked away shaded niches, where you can take a bit of a rest. The grounds are beautifully clean, and excellently maintained. The courses are easy enough for children to enjoy, but difficult enough for adults to be a bit challenged. Great fun!”
“With its brand new beautiful playground is the best place to relax and take your kids in south Auckland”
“Lovely park where we came for a soccer tournament over the weekend. Ample parking by the Hibiscus Coast Football Club. There are Public toilets and multiple playgrounds to suit all ages by the beach. Beautiful views and atmosphere, a great place to spend time with family and friends”
“Had my daughter’s 3rd Birthday here and it was honestly so incredible. Ryan and his team communicated everything so well, from the party room, to the decorations to what kind of food we wanted. The actual playground is clean and tidy and the viewing space for adults is big! You don’t feel crowded at all. We have gone to other indoor playgrounds before and the space is so cramped and uncomfortable! They have such a huge range of party decorations and themes and add on options for the parties it really is a one stop shop!! Will definitely be recommending this to all my Mummy friends and will be back to celebrate more of my kids birthdays! Thank you Ryan and Team!”
“Beautiful setting and environment. Children play ground as well as walking tracks, one of which leads down to water front. Grounds gets very soggy on wet winters, this is so to the basketball court, paly ground, refer photos. Good summer picnic spot, quite and a hidden gem.”
“Great facility, very helpful staff. Big thank you to Sofie who helped us book a room last minute when our other venue fell through!”
“Fabulous location for a quiet walk or to run the dog or perhaps have a picnic, plenty of space coupled with a lil wildlife and scenic views all inside a residential neighborhood.”
“Lovely place to go for an evening walk, also has a fully fenced dog park”
“Nice park / playgroundfor both kids and adults.”
“Love this little spot for a picnic on a hot day! Kell Park has everything you need and more: plenty of shade, public toilets, ample parking and pushchair/wheelchair accessible pathways. Dogs are allowed off leash year round (although mind the free range chickens!) Albany library is just alongside so perfect to grab a book and read in the shade. There is a small playground (suitable for younger children) in the main park - or follow the pathway in either direction for a short bush walk to the big slide and flying fox (flying fox was out of order when we visited Jan 2024). For older children there isn’t a lot to do here - though the flying fox if working would be a good draw. We visit this park fairly frequently and it is never busy.”
“A peaceful relaxing and lovely place. Have a harbour bridge and tower view. Have bench and table to sit and tea.”
“Always stop here as a combination with the aquarium. Long flying fox. Big and small wheel climbers. Small kids area. Large lawn besides and beach across the road for a view of city and port.”
“One of the best parks kids can have fun for free.”
