The place is run down and the website pictures much too flattering. There was no bath in room (or any room) even though pictures showed one. Towels were the thinnest we've seen and breakfast was not served under bogus excuse of covid. Beds were ok-ish but getting quite old. Main positive is location.
You get what you pay for here. I've stayed here a lot as I come to Dunedin often. the place is quaint and has an old-fashioned feel, however it is neglected and is missing simple things like coffee/milk in rooms, things are a bit dirty and dated and the hosts don't care. I do remember it being better in the past, maybe it has changed ownership. I mean I'm not fussy, so will be back as it is cheap!
Cold and uninviting entrance. Heating on timer. Breakfast disappointing. Who apart from this B&B doesn't put jam or marmalade out for toast? Breakfast forgotten one day, had to ring to ask where it was. Breakfast room dark and miserable. TV there, but not on. Even that would have lightened the mood in there
Good location if you like walking - not far from city centre. We were disappointed in our room. Bathroom had mold on the walls. Room had no amenities and not clean (carpet disgusting - no heat) Chris (staff) was accommodating. Breakfast was good. The B&B was less than ideal. Gerald & Eleanor - Canada
Quaint little place, beautiful ambience and really friendly Glynis - the keeper. The breakfast was amazing. It feels like home. One little thing though- all rooms in the ground floor can hear the flushes/showers of upstairs rooms (as the bldg walls are thin) and that gets kind of disturbing at night.
Very convenient for the University & Otago Museum. The rooms are cosy and comfortable & the included breakfast included home made yoghurt, bread & preserves. This is a nice alternative to big city hotels, with character & history. I saw in the visitor book that many of the guests had stayed there before, and I would certainly return.
