We purchased a RAV4 from the lovely team in Napier and chose to have it serviced at Hastings Toyota for convenience... a decision we now regret. When the car wouldnβt start, the AA diagnosed it as a faulty battery and recommended we return it to Toyota. Hastings Toyota charged the battery overnight, told us it was fine, and billed us $50. However, the issue kept recurring for over a year resulting in multiple calls to the AA. We brought it back for another assessment and were again told the battery was fine. When my husband requested to speak with the service manager, we were told someone would call... but we never heard back. After contacting head office, we finally received a callβ¦ from the same front desk person. She claimed we never mentioned any issues beyond the flat battery, which was untrue... we had a heated discussion about the recurring problems when picking up the vehicle. Later that day, we took the car to another Toyota branch. They tested the battery and replaced it on the spot. We wonβt be going back to Hastings Toyota. In our experience, they were dismissive, evasive, and failed to follow through and charged us for it... twice. If you value honesty and reliable service, go elsewhere.

Biggest liers and worst communication I have ever encountered. As soon as you walk into the building you feel judged and unaccepted. Not even a fake smile was given. I was told multiple times my service would cost me $785 which I signed for. It wasn't until I received the invoice (a month later) when I realised they charged me $989?? When I went to collect my vehicle they were all already on the beersies and flirting (badly) with each other. Probably why they forgot to send me the invoice for so long. And that's only the one issue I have had with Hastings Toyota.

Aaron, Liam and Jai were great! I felt so looked after from the second I walked onto their yard. Great stock, great prices, great people. Would definitely recommend purchasing a car from them, they made the whole experience so easy and I felt as if I could trust them right from the get go. Keep up the great work boys, Iβll definitely be back!

Andy Telford took great care and service for the new car purchase. He went out of his way and went the extra mile to make sure I knew everything about the vehicle and eased my nervous.

Friendly courteous staff, but.... I'm a first time hybrid owner, I went in to the service desk and said I'd noticed reduced efficiency in the EV since the cold weather started. I don't think I was listened to or their service desk training on hybrids isn't up to scratch. They suggested diagnostics test so I booked it in. On day I took it in what I had said previously was not written down on booking slip, something else was. I said it again. They took it in, and later told me diagnostics was all fine, and that it was a known part of hybrids and EV that they don't perform quite as efficiently in the cold due to several factors including heating etc. So basically I paid $142 to be told what I had told them, was a normal part of owning a hybrid . Couldn't they have told me that when I went in with the enquiry? Disappointed I didn't get good advice after buying my signature new import.
