A very happy dog mum here. We recently left our dog at Penzance for a week, and just before this he developed a hot spot on his lower back. I was quite stressed about what to do, but the team at Penzance reassured me they could manage his care. They continued his treatment β€” cleaning the area, applying the topical solution, and keeping an eye on him while he wore his head donut β€” for a small additional fee. When I picked him up, he looked great, the spot had all but healed, and he was his usual cheerful self. A week is a long time for a dog with a skin issue, and it was clear he’d been very well cared for. He’s stayed at Penzance a few times now and is always happy to go in. The staff are fantastic at communicating, especially over email, and really accommodating when unexpected things come up. Once we even got stuck overseas, and they were happy to extend his stay last minute until someone could collect him. I’ve been happy with our service to date.

Put my 11 year old dog into Penzance for a two week stay and gave instructions to the staff to give my dog his medication which is half a tablet a day to manage his eye and ear infection. I even split the tablets ahead of time. When I picked my dog up, I asked the same staff member if my dog had been given his tablets. She said yes. When she brought my dog to me his eyes were all puffy and weeping and hardly open. She handed me the pill bottle and it was still full. They hadn’t given him any of the tablets. They didn’t look after my dog. Probably put in a cage and forgotten about. I think it’s disgusting and cruel. Penzance is more like a dog pound than a kennel. This is my response to the owners response. First of all, if you don't like negative reviews, do your job and be better at looking after other peoples pets. He didn't like my accusation but through one of his own by saying my dog left Penzance in better condition than when he was brought in. Now he's a liar too. Their wall of remembrance has discs that used to have the names of pets that had stayed at Penzance and have now passed away. But about 95% of the discs are weathered and now blank. Above all these blank discs are the words "never forgotten". This speaks volumes about neglect and not caring. If they can't refresh fading names on a remembrance board, how carefully are they looking after peoples pets. As for my review history. Four reviews in six years is not a gauge about my authenticity. It just shows I am willing to expose poor business practices when they happen.

Penzance is an excellent kennel! My pup Skye loves it, and the staff there are happy to send videos and pics of her playing with the other dogs whenever I request them. Highly recommend

Thoroughly recommend Penzance. They are warm and welcoming and keep you up to date about how your pet is doing. I inadvertently (I got the time wrong) and arrived an hour early to pick my dog up and they were so accommodating.

Midnight always comes home looking healthy and uninjured. By far my facility in Dunedin for overnight stays. The carers go the extra mile - one of them once told me that she’d fed my dog by hand to make sure he ate! Lovely people.

My dog is not the most relaxed of dogs, so I'm always a little worried when I need to board her. Ive had her at Penzance a couple of times now and they are really great and making sure she is only socialised with calm dogs. They are also really open to an update via email to ease my mind on how she is getting on.

Excellent Kennels! The dogs have sufficient room to move around and a warm spot to sleep in, the staff are knowledgeable and make sure that dogs get enough exercise (and not too much either). They are my preferred Kennels in Dunedin.

Our dog always comes back happy when he's stayed at Penzance! They're really good at getting them exercise and time with dogs they get along with. Really nice staff too. This was a short-notice trip and Penzance fitted us in no problem.

Excellent Kennel with extremely attentive and caring staff. They recognized my dog was in distress and got her to a vet in time to save her life. We will be eternally grateful and highly recommend them
