I initially came here because my usual place was too busy, but I'm so happy I did! Better experience all around. They helped me make a hard decision with a pre purchase inspection, were very patient with my lack of car knowledge, and flagged an issue that saved me a huge headache. Today they're fixing up my old car - when I explained that it's a second vehicle (just for emergencies) Wendy came up with a creative solution to save me substantial money. They've been so kind, flexible with my unpredictable work schedule, and overall it's just been such a great experience working with them. I'm so grateful that my old mechanic was too busy for me!
From the moment of contact to even two days after the car returned to me the guys and girls at Sims were amazing. Wendy in reception went above and beyond in my eyes to help. From working with me on the phone diagnosing problems, doing research finding the best solutions, Wendy is a superstar. The time it took to do my repairs was exceptionally quick despite it being a big job. The care and effort Sims went to was for me second to none. This is the second big job they have done for me. I can not fault there workmanship or cost. However what I believe makes Sims the best is the transparency,the contact and the general care they give all there customers.
Warren and the team are absolutely fantastic, I have been using their services for nearly 5 years now and have always had a wonderful experience. They have been very honest with me about work required, cost and benefit of getting same done. I have been able to trust that the work being done is necessary and being done to a high standard. They are great at communicating and keeping you up to date with the work being completed. They have been very good about meeting any deadlines I may need to meet, such as needing to collect children from childcare, so need vehicle ready by a certain time. I would absolutely recommend the team at Sims Brothers Garage to anyone and everyone!
first of all, I took my vehicle here for repair cert compliance as the car was deregistered. these lot were nothing short of amazing with my car, service and speed. based on my experience this time round ill be quite happy to take future repairs to Sims :)
Hands down the best mechanics in town, would give them 7 stars if I could. Do yourself a favor by trusting the reviews here. As a student this is the only place I trust now and conveniently close to uni! Pretty much saved me after someone tried to rip me off and I was going to sell my car due to repairs being quoted over 2k. They did it all and more for $860 inclusive, wish I'd discovered them earlier! No sharky business or shady profiling, with super friendly staff in the office :)
The best mechanics I have ever been to in my 7yrs in Dunedin! Not only did they reduce my robbery worthy quote from Midas by over HALF, they were so honest they reduced the final cost due to the time it took being quicker than expected. Now that's a 5* service if I've ever had one! Office staff are so lovely and I've already recommended a bunch of friends to visit them due to the phenomenal customer service. If you're weary of getting ripped off on the cost of repairs for having XX chromosmes or just a broke student who can't afford to get shafted with repair costs, check these guys out you'll never look for another mechanics workshop again!!
Had an issue with diff in my ute, sims brothers where quick to contact and arrange a time to diagnose the issue. Once they worked out the pinion gear was wreaked they organised a replacment diff and fitted, very quick turn around, dropped on Tuesday 10am and was ready by lunch Thursday. Friendly staff that kept me in the loop all the way through. Would highly recommend for all automotive repair needs
Would give more stars if possible. My Hilux cracked its head on the trip down from Christchurch to Dunedin in January. After being towed from Oamaru to Dunedin, we took it in to Sims and they slotted me in ASAP. I left my truck in their hands as I made the trip back to Christchurch and they got to work. They put a new head on new belts, water pump, radiator and plenty more. I’ve had no further problems and it’s been running an absolute dream ever since. Great communication, keeping me updated as they went along. Excellent service Highly recommend these guys.
