About Us

EBB-CAFE leans into a coffee-and-cabinet approach with no fuss. Eggs land on point and toast stays crisp. Portions are generous yet well judged. Front‑of‑house runs with calm, helpful energy. Coffee pours are consistent and well textured.

Stopped in for a coffee as we'd heard they welcome folks with dogs in the little covered area next to the cafe with the fire place. Well setvice was awesome. Couldn't be friendlier team members who made our coffee. Cheese roll was delicious. One of the best I've had and great coffee too. Our 2 little pooches enjoyed some bacon too. Other food looked brilliant so we'll be back when in town. No doubt.

While staying at the hotel, I decided to have a coffee and snack after check out. Unfortunately the service was bad. When I entered and said good morning to all, no one cared, no answer. The counter with snacks and cakes has no descriptions. How do I know what is what? My flat white was unfortunately just ok. Seeing some other reviews and pictures, there seem to be different baristas with different skills, so getting a good coffee depends who is working. 3 main things require improvement: - attitude towards guests - hygiene (please wash your hands after blowing your nose, you cannot get straight back to work at the coffee machine) - cleanness (the bathroom was dirty and disgusting at 10:00 in the morning)

Ebb-cafe provided well on all fronts however there were a few cons. The coffees were great but a tad cold. The cheese rolls and wagyu beef toastie from the cabinet were a stand out and a decent price. The blitz was also pretty good. The other dishes including the bacon Buttie and salmon egg Benedict were mediocre and not worth it. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere feels very inviting. Would return for a cheeky cheese roll and a coffee!

Whether you're exploring their menu or eyeing the delicious offerings in their cabinet, this hidden gem is the perfect place for a relaxed lunch or a morning coffee. During our visit, we couldn't resist trying a couple of their dishes – a tasty cheesy arancini from the cabinet, and a delightful entrée-sized ricotta-filled crepe. Both dishes were a real treat, leaving me eager to return for more someday. It's a cozy spot with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, ideal for those seeking good food and a relaxing experience.

My absolute favourite cafe and hotel when in Dunedin. It is beyond top notch, both the hotel and cafe. I commend all the staff on always being helpful, friendly, and professional, even when having to navigate ungrateful customers, as in the complaints of no cash. There’s bigger problems in the world to focus your energy on. Just simply enjoy the space, the high quality food, the table service. ….And chill out. Make it your happy place.
