I saw Dr. Cameron Bell and keep meaning to write a review about how impressed I was. I had a few things to ask him about and didn’t expect to sort all of them. He was able to sort everything I needed and had friendly chat and still managed to get everything done within the 15min appt. He was very efficient and I’m so happy to have found a great GP!

After our long-time GP retired, my family transferred our care to Travis Medical and I was assigned Dr. Cameron Bell. For several months, my prescriptions—including medical marijuana for epilepsy—were continued by him without issue. However, when WINZ began considering funding a portion of my treatment due to an upcoming increase in both cost and frequency (as requested), they required an updated formal prescription submitted in person within the week. Unfortunately, the prescription previously issued by Dr. Bell was missing an end date, and "as required" was written instead which led WINZ to naturally reject it. I contacted Dr. Bell during earlier in the week to have this corrected, but repeated errors between him and the clinic’s reception staff ended in an unnecessary in-person appointment for the following Monday—only to be abruptly refused by Dr. Bell to continue prescribing the medication, and without any regard to the incorrectly written prescription that he struggled so much with. This sudden reversal seemed less about clinical judgment and more about pressure from me to simply issue a proper prescription—with a clear dosage, frequency, and duration, as is standard practice. That such a basic requirement was mishandled repeatedly is baffling. Rather than owning the mistake, Dr. Bell appeared to take offense and ultimately cut ties in a passive-aggressive and unprofessional manner. He cited a international paper, allegedly supported by the clinic's directors, that questioned the efficacy of medicinal cannabis instead of truthfully confessing that he/they were unqualified and untrained to prescribe it, which I would have gladly accepted and sincerely appreciated. His administrative missteps, and lack of consideration for the fact that I had been on this medication for over 10 years not only disrupted my care, but meant that I had to find a new GP in short notice. To make matters worse, I was even sent another patient’s medical information via the clinic’s online portal—a reckless error that could have serious consequences if misinterpreted, regardless of any apology. Despite his offer to continue to prescribe my other meds, I lacked confidence in his ability to write a simple prescription properly, and that is too low even for my tolerance. I have since moved to a new GP who is knowledgeable, experienced, and confident in prescribing medicinal cannabis where appropriate—and, importantly, knows how to write a correct prescription. (There’s a big difference between 30 mg and 30 grams, Dr. Bell.) Most of the staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful. My apologies to them for giving a poor review, it is no reflection on those who matter. Best of luck to those who remain in Cameron's care.

My elderly brother has been under Mark Santry’s care for the past few years, and we’ve always found him to be both sensitive and responsive to my brother’s needs. He has been quick to get my brother referred to necessary hospital care on several occasions as well as giving advice on his ongoing conditions. Just before Christmas my brother’s general condition worsened, and Mark was able to enter a letter into the system so that when St John was inevitably called, they were aware of the situation and he was admitted to hospital for assessment. Subsequently he was assessed as needing residential care and we managed to find a place for him in a resthome where he is once again enjoying life. We just wanted to place on record our thanks for Mark’s professionalism and dedication and feel that he is a real asset to the wonderful team at Travis Medical.

I highly recommend NP Mark Santry. Mark is very professional and experienced and performs his duties equal to or more expertly than any previous GP I have attended. I was initially sceptical of the role of a Nurse Practitioner but not any more. If referred to a NP, you can have confidence in their ability and expertise. The reception staff are always helpful and courteous and I was impressed with the first appointment with the Practice Nurse who introduced me to the practice.

Dr David ignored my symptoms and pleas for investigation for over a decade, resulting in a delay in diagnosis of Ankylosing Spondylitis. Now that my spine is permanently damaged and I’m pushing a treatment claim, Travis Medical and it’s practice Manager Morag responded as if I was being irrational and that they have done everything correct. I then escalated to the Health and Disability Commisoner as my REALITY was continuously denied to my face. After trying to speak to my experience and my requests for help, they suggested if I lost faith I should go elsewhere. Months of no reliable GP and I call Morag this morning to discuss my situation and how I need a GP is going to listen, to which she responds “I don’t have to talk to you since you escalated it”. The fact the health system can’t have a conversation about responsibility is beyond toxic and I’m sick of sitting in silence while they leave me to drown.

I have been a patient for 15 years at Travis medical, and the staff are amazing. Dr's and nurses are all professional and have the patients best interests at heart.

Dr Pilbrow has been my GP since I was at least 9, for over 13 years now. He is amazing at what he does and I feel lucky to have a GP that actually cares and listens. He’s also very lgbtqia+ (specifically trans) friendly which eased a lot of worries for me and made starting my transition a lot easier. Nurse Nicky Scott is also amazing, caring and kind, makes it easy to trust her with injections I usually have a bit of anxiety around. 10/10

This practice provides the kind of great medical care by people who enjoy their work and patients. The ethic seems to be " doing the right thing " Well done to all at Travis MEDICAL Centre.
