Unusual exterior murals on the concrete block walls and driveway. The required angle parking left our medium size car hanging out into the narrow driveway. Very interesting walk in shower So why my low star rating? A choking, overpowering smell of curry! We think we narrowed it down to an area of carpet.(although we couldn't see anything)
Extremely Disappointing Customer Service – Would Not Recommend I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Belmont Motor Inn was unacceptable and needs to be shared. From the moment we checked in, the owner’s attitude was shockingly hostile — as if we owed him money rather than being paying guests. When we politely asked where we should park, he simply said, “Anywhere there’s a space.” So we parked in an available spot close to our room. Not long after, another guest approached us, saying the space belonged to the unit below and asked us to move. We explained that the owner had instructed us to park in any available spot. They then went to speak with the owner, and what happened next was unbelievable. The owner marched over with an aggressive tone and expression, acting as if we had done something wrong. When we told him it was his own instruction that led us to park there, he offered no apology, no clarification, and instead responded dismissively with, “Then move to another place.” His attitude was condescending, rude, and completely unprofessional. For a hospitality business, this level of customer service is unacceptable. A simple apology or clear instructions from the beginning would have avoided all of this. Instead, we were met with disrespect and hostility. This experience left a very negative impression, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend this property to anyone who expects basic courtesy and professionalism

Large balcony on our upper level room. Less than $10.00 uber to the central city Completely recommended and we certainly will be back
Everything was amazing about this motel. The room was just the right size, the private bathroom and kitchen was the icing on the top. There was a good separation between living and sleeping area, and it was so quiet. For the price paid , in our entire South island trip this was the only place which delivered value in terms of space, location, facilities, privacy, quietness, parking, family friendliness. The kitchen was well stocked with Cutlery, plates, bowls, glasses, etc. They even offered a bottle of milk. There was a fridge, microwave, kettle, iron box. There were sufficient towels and bedding provided. Compared to every other place we stayed at which charged almost the same and even more, and didn't even provide towels or a private bathroom, forget the kitchen and crockery, I would say definitely go to this place, it's gold. We only stayed one night but wish we could have just stayed here for our entire trip. I would give this 6 stars if I could.
This place is Amazing! We had a wonderful time there! The room are tidy, beds are clean and comfortable, bathroom is shining! The most impression for me are the paintings. The owner said his wife did them! She must be a life loving person! That’s probably why the rooms are so tidy and clean! The owner is very friendly and nice! He recommended a lot of good restaurants and fun places for kids! We had a wonderful in Christchurch! This is the most valuable and comfortable motel in my whole trip! High Recommend!!!
Budget and comfortable in older style motel but room had been recently renovated with spa bath. Great continental breakfast prepared by owner .

The motel is dated. The fridge and air conditioner were out of function. There were no shampoo and body wash provided in their containers. Plus the neighborhood seems to be unsafe and annoying car engines made the room very noisy even after midnight.
City centre is only 10 minutes drive away. Managed to get a room at the ground floor, very convenient with parking right in front. Room is spacious enough for 5 adults, wifi is fast, shower is strong and beddings are comfortable. Only 1 unit of heater at living room so the room was a bit cold. Great value place to stay.
Great value, quite spacious unit for a small family, central location, great shower, comfy beds. We had a few minor maintainance issues (light bulbs out etc.) but after mentioning them to the management, to their credit, they fixed them all straight away - can't fault that!
