We stayed at Sherborne Motel for two nights and had a wonderful experience. The location is great — close to all amenities and easy to get around Christchurch. The unit was very clean and well-equipped with a kitchenette, which made our stay even more comfortable. Rick was incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay. He gave us lots of great recommendations on places to visit around Christchurch. After we checked out, Rick emailed me to let us know that my partner had left his jacket behind, and he kindly offered to send it to our next hotel — completely free of charge! Highly recommend Sherborne Motel for anyone visiting Christchurch. Excellent service and genuine hospitality.

I stayed for four nights last month and will definitely stay here again. Greeted by a lovely host who informed me of local shops/eateries in the area and services available, and my room was very comfortable and clean. Highly recommend and thank you for the lovely accommodation.

Buyer Beware. Afternoon before stay was told my room was needed by an 80y.o. who required wheelchair accessibility. Happily obliged given the circumstances (relying on motel's honesty). Was informed I would be given an upgrade. When I arrived was directed to another motel next door. After having a check of on-line reviews it was obvious that the original motel was of better quality. My room had stained carpet, smelt of wet dog and was very basic. Didn't complain because I had limited time in city and had better things to do. As well as trust issues meant I would be wasting my breath. Agoda shows original hotel with a 9.3 overall rating and the word "Fabulous" as a description. The motel I stayed at a 9.0 rating and "Exceptional" Better than Christchurch's most expensive hotels...really??? Who are writing these reviews?

I have never received such disgusting or discriminatory treatment in my life. I didn’t even make it into my room. Instead I was questioned about my personal life (absolutely none of his business), asked what I’ll be doing, how many people will come over, how long I’ll be there, literally 20 questions. Just to be told I can’t stay there because escorts are bottom of society. I had paid and given my card details just like everyone else, and I was only going to be using the room for 3 hours, would’ve even happily paid a cleaning fee if I did cause an extra mess but nope! He “doesn’t allow girls your way inclined on his premises” was the man behind the front desks words. He also told me none of the cameras at his motel work so all the guests currently staying there, have no safety if something was to happen to them. Good owner!

There are several very important factors when we stay in a motel, this is because we only stay due to medical appointments which is usually stressful in itself, as we live roughly 4 hours away on West Coast. This trip was just the 2 of us. One minor, one adult. The things that really stood out with this motel is is winter and we were cosy warm with minimal heater use!! This is very rare. The curtains are full length and thick meaning no outside light and much better for daytime sleepers. There was very little street noise or neighbours, a huge bonus on a main access road centrally located. I have anxiety which means first contact I can be edgy. Rick was very friendly and welcoming. It is not often anyone comes out from behind the desk, or looks at you when conversing. Rick was also very helpful after learning I had made a huge error with booking and I am very grateful. We have stayed in many motels throughout Christmas over 6 years, ranging from $89-250 (don’t get me wrong, there’s times we’ve tented not glamped at Godly Head when there’s no accommodation available or unable to afford anything else) It’s the small things that matter, that little piece of luxury that others make take for granted. Soap dispensers for hair, body and hands, very much needed for a person (myself) that leaves toiletry bag behind; enough milk for drinks and cereal; mints; comfortable and clean furniture and flooring. The latter may seem weird to you but there’s a huge difference between washed and vacuumed carpets. They also contacted me when they thought I’d left something behind. That has never happened before. Definitely A++

Stayed there with family. Rick was very friendly and professional. Good services and well-furnished rooms within reason for the budget. Compared with other motels in the area it is incredible. Would indeed recommend it.

This motel is awesome. Extra large and very clean rooms. Close to the city, train station and airport. The owner Rik is a great host, and a wealth of knowledge. He also has a courtesy bus and can drop you off at train station etc. More then ticks all the boxes. Worthy of a 10 star rating.
