Rob was nice, humorous person. I can’t stop smilling when he make some jokes. Anyway, it was really fun experience. You can feel breezing, see a lot of ducks and having a chilling time.
What an amazing experience. Logan and Thomas were amazing. Very informative about history and culture of area. Would highly recommend this. A must do when in Christchurch.
A fabulous journey up the Avon on the Waka for our awesome group of AirBnB hosts. The singing in Maori from our young guide was fabulous, personally I could take more of that for sure, a beautiful day, great people, loved the game to warm us all up, a must do in Canterbury for our guests to Canterbury.
My daughter,part Maori 14 year old granddaughter and 14 year old Australian grandson absolutely enjoyed the experience,involvement and knowledge of the crew and their encouragement for all to partake in the experience. All want to do it again. Best experience ever,even for me just watching
Had an absolutely amazing experience back in December. We were the only two who booked so got a personalised tour. Many laughs were had as we paddled up and down the river. The whole team was amazing.
I loved this activity and the historical tour at the beginning by Tipene was so informative and he kept our group of 33 students attention very well. Tama & Caleb were awesome captains! 10/10 will do the Waka on Avon anytime I visit Christchurch.
There were just the two of us which resulted in a very personalized experience. Huni led us thru a pre-trip game to learn some Maori directions. Tama, the captain, led the experience with Maori chants and instructions. They explained the purpose/importance of the chants. Gerry was the guide and did a fine job of explaining the history of the marshes and food gathering prior to arrival of European people and how the Europeans drained marshes and built up banks to create the Avon River. Gerry pointed explained how wakas are made, and pointed out pou (poles like totem poles) and explained the importance of these markers. They patiently answered our questions about the ducks, geese, trees, and buildings around the area. Gerry explained how the earthquakes damaged the area. We greatly enjoyed this experience.
This has the potential to be great. We enjoyed the experience and would do it again. Just was disappointed with the lack of information and cultural history given. Very limited and given the cost, would expect a bit more of an informative experience.
A wonderful shared experience with work colleagues. We started with a warm up game and were soon aboard and traveling down the Avon River on a waka. We thought we would have heard more about the waka and surroundings. A wonderful experience and opportunity.
