Really enjoyed my visit, Canterbury potters had an exhibition going on and It was lovely to see all the different styles of Ceramics. The entire area is amazing so make a day of it. Everything from the food vans to the little artisan art market was just lovely, will definitely go back again.

Lovely Contemporary Art gallery near Christchurch Art Gallery. Unfortunately the building is undergoing a major renovation that will take 4 years. Still worth going for the temporary changing exhibits. The current Canterbury Ceramic exhibition was very good.

Director & staff obviously work hard to connect the curated shows with the public. It's an historic and beautiful gallery venue and in this respect the recent shows strive to continue the history of ChCh & NZ visual art in challenging and contemporary contexts which adds enormous value. Having said that, I have yet to see a show over the last 12 months or so that I would describe as ground breaking or even stimulating. The last two shows I've been to have been strongly presented curatorialy in the introductory wall write-ups, but in my view the works in question themselves have been relatively weak and not lived up to their written descriptions or synopses. The vibe on opening nights, however, has been excellent with great discussions and comments but l definitely expected more from the artworks..l look forward to future shows

Probably the best art gallery experience I've had. No entry fee, and the lovely guy on the front desk gave me a tour with some fascinating discussions re. the art. Highly recommend checking this gallery out!

CoCa has been an institution in Ōtautahi Art exhibitions for a very long time with a long history of innovative and exciting local art to enjoy for any visitors! Please do come along if you are in Christchurch. My photo here shows an example of lathe cut vinyl records and sleeve art from the most recent exhibition. Stunning! Come have a look.
